Really, I'm not trying to start anything (hey, hey, hey) but what's the difference? Why, in your opinion is it ok for the little fella to go "Max Factor" and yall are cool, but if he's 17 it's a problem. By yall's logic it shouldn't matter.
....why do I feel like I'm bout to be in deep water with no life jacket?

So what's difference between a girl getting Hulk hands or a Tonka truck and a boy getting an EBO or a doll??
|
...well, she's probably not going to turn out to be a Marvel Comics Superhero

Because at 21 months he doesn't KNOW any better. He doesn't know make up and hair clips are for girls.....a 17 yo knows the difference.

Thank you for your responses!! I showed this thread to Hubby and he has relented...somewhat. Now he says, "If you want to waste your money, that's fine with me." Now he's gone from the "he's gonna be gay" tip to "I'm wasting my money." Ya'll know that made me kinda I ignored him and went out and bought it anyway. I feel that he and I have spent $8 on lesser things, why not spend $8 to invest in something our son could make a career of?

I know this is late but NO! I have a six year old son, and he would never even be interested in an EBO the labor along is to much for him to handle. My reasons are so iggnorant but nope, uh uh not in this crib!

Get the boy the oven!!!
Your husband is overreacting, as time passes he'll realize the error of his ways -and how silly he's been acting.
Besides, the majority of people who are gay are'nt "flamboyant" anyway.

I asked a Phrat this question. He said, sure. I went on and on with a series of, "really...you would?" He insisted he would. His final answer being, "The little man will need to learn how to cook, because with each passing generation women's culinary skills diminish"
I fell out!!!!

Why not....
buy a cookbook for kids and you and the hubby both make things with him instead of the EBO.....though I know you already went out and bought it.

Re: Oh boy.......
Some of my favorite memories from my childhood are watching my parents get ready to go to work, or to an anniv dinner, etc. I remember watching my dad shave his face and thinking it was so strange that he had to do it sooooo often. I remember watching my mom put her hair in rollers too.
As stated above, it's ok for kids to watch their parents gets ready. It shows you how grown ups do things.
In terms of toys, if you get the kdis what they want instead of making a federal case out of it, there will be less drama. toys are designed to stimulate a child's immagination, not create their sexuality. Gender roles are a societal construct. IF you grew up somewhere with no easy bake ovens, you would probably have no idea if it was more "girly" or "boyish". The same goes for colors. American society dictates that pink is for girls and blue is for boys, and white is for weddings. Go to another country and these colors will have different meanings.

I had plenty of Tonka trucks when I was a kid, and now my nieces and nephews still play w/ them, those things are indestructible! It did not turn me into a lesbian.
What's wrong w/ a 17yr old playing w/ makeup? They give out academy awards for makeup artistry.
Also, why are people so scared of their kids being gay? Maybe it's b/c I grew up outside of San Francisco, but there are a lot worse things than being gay. Worry about your kids being violet and abusing pets, b/c that's an indicator that they are more likely to hurt other people.
Give me a gay kid who has a job and votes over a kid who is straight and have 5 kids w/ 5 dif partners and gets locked up for killing a bank teller during a botched robbery.
