I am a horrible person - I STILL wish it had been Carrie Weaver!!!

Although, it seems like the accident has Susan & Chuck much closer!

The whole time the helicopter was going crazy I just sat there with a dropped jaw. I couldn't believe it!

And it kinda made me mad that they didn't find Dr. Romano. Now I gota stay home another Thursday nite to watch!

Actually, it looks like we have to wait a couple of weeks for a new one. Next week is Thanksgiving!!

Plus, what is up with Carter shacking up in the Congo? Who is the new lady???

She was Luka's honey when he was in the Congo. When they thought Luka was dead & Carter returned to claim his body, he met up with (I forget her name, but she's from Montreal) and they searched for Luka together. Obviously, they've been enjoying that togetherness still....

To quote Alanis: "A little too ironic..." Poor Romano! And no one knew where the heck he was at the end, they just thought he was skipping out cause he's a jerk. No one deserves to be killed off the show in such a cruel and ironic twist of fate, not even Rocket Romano. Why would they get rid of him, he was always good for a laugh. If it wasn't for Mehki and the hopes of Carter coming back, I would probably stop watching the show.

Ahhhh!!! (frustration) I hate reading about ER when I'm missing it!!! (Why am I reading this thread? Just a masochist I guess.)
So...can someone tell me...why was a helicopter falling?
Am I the only one who doesn't like Luka?

The helicopter was falling because of a freak change in the winds. The pilot lost control. It first kinda crashed on the roof and some of the blades of the chopper were breaking off. Then it skidded over the edge of the roof and hit the side of the building where Luka and the front desk nurse were (another ward). There was an explosion at that point. (It hadn't exploded on the roof.)

Now, Romano WAS on the roof, but he had a panic attack and couldn't stay there. So he went downstairs and went all the way outside to get some air. He saw one of the med students smoking a joint (long story) and he angrily told him to go inside and wait for him. Romano then walked to the middle of the street/alley, and noticed this firey wreckage falling around him. (From the explosion when the chopper hit the building.) He looks up, and the chopper is coming right for him. He hits the ground and says nooooooooo! (Which was nat because the camera angle was from the ground up.)

And then he died.

For the rest of the episode, nobody knew where he was. In fact, they didn't even move the wreckage from the chopper until the very last scene of the episode, and the movers were like "Oh damn..." and shining their flashlight on what must have been Romano's charred remains.

I don't see the big Luka attraction, either, but then dark & moody never did a thing for me! I grew up thinking I was really odd because I thought the "tall, dark & handsome" thing was kinda blech.

Anyhow, the helicopter was there to transport a patient to another hospital. Frank taunted Dr. Romano that "he wouldn't go up to the helipad either, if that had happened to him," so Romano had to go up (the patient had left his Rolex in the ER). He had Parminder (what's her name on the show?) give the watch to the patient, then he left, ending up in the ambulance bay (screaming at people as per usual).

Dr. Susan's ex, Chuck, tried to get on the helicopter, but they wouldn't let him because of insurance reasons. In the way of an accident, you saw the windsock going berserk, then the helicopter swerving out of control. It hit the helipad, throwing debris everywhere, then fell off the roof of the hospital. It exploded halfway down (into the operating room where Luka & the new nurse (what's her name?!) were with a patient, then you saw Dr. Romano looking up and saying, "Oh, no!" as the helicopter was crashing down into the ambulance bay.

****

I really think that the least they could have done was find his body or somehow complete that picture.

thanks for completing the picture honeychile, because i really couldn't remember the details about why they were on the roof.

and i agree...romano definitely should have been found during the episode.... i didn't like the fact that he was SO nasty in his last hours.

I was hoping it was going to be the guy Romano caught lighting up that was gonna die because he serves absolutely no purpose at all. Oh yeah, I hate Luka too.

I read a spoiler somewhere that said originally, in the very end of the episode, a fireman finds a prosthetic arm near the wreckage and says something like "now how did that get out here?" I guess that was either a false spoiler or got edited out.

That was quite possibly the most graphic ER I have ever seen. I couldn't sleep b/c I kept replaying the shrapnel from the helicopter flying around in the elevator & Neela watching that other lady getting it in the back & then Romano's terrified face as it came down on him. COMPLETE TENSION!

I wish it had been Weaver or Morris to get crushed. Morris is the dumbest storyline ever, and Weaver, well, I hate Weaver (unlike Romano, who I loved to hate).

I *heart* Susan and Chuck though. How cute was he--"I scraped my back a little" hehe NO FOOL, YOU HAVE PERFORATED YOUR SPLEEN!!!! Gotta love having a little happy story on ER for once.
