Officially, my cat's name is Tigger II. He'll also answer to 'Putz', 'Numbnuts', 'Sh*t-for-Brains', 'Piglet', 'Hawg', 'Lazy-a**' among other terms of endearment... but my mother and I love him too -- he knows what side the bread is buttered on 'cause we spoil him to death!

...or trees...trees are bad too.

My cat's name is George: for two reasons:

1. Curious George the monkey. That darn cat is into everything.

2. from the bugs bunny cartoons - remember the snowman guy who would pick up marvin the martian and try to make him a pet, saying "I will love him and hug him and squeeze him and call him George." I adopted the cat from my summer roommate, who was a foster mom for the county's animal league. she had several kittens who were all rescue animals and we taught them to be nice cuddly pets - i.e., "love them and hug them and squeeze them". stray cats aren't naturally used to people - you have to get them used to you. then they are nice.

Also, i just don't like calling pets things like "fluffy" or "mittens," unless it's ironic. (I had a friend with a HUGE rottweiler named Fluffy. Now that was funny.) George is a good solid name.

Lately though, i've been calling him You Little F***er!!!!!

He is eating lots of important wires - chewed up two cell phone chargers (thankfully for my old phone, just got a new plan and phone) this week.

He's also sending my alarm clock radio to a slow painful death - you know the weird little wire that's supposed to be an antenna? He bites off a section at a time, little 1"-2" pieces and leaves them around the apt. Now there is only a sad little 3 inch stubby piece left. I can only get one station. I need to go find an alarm w/ a real antenna.

He tried to eat the wire on my real stereo once but i screamed bloody heck for about 5 minutes straight. He hid under the bed for 1/2 hour. Now he's afraid of my radio - and that's a good thing.

I feed him plenty - is there some kind of vitamin in the wires of my electronic equipment that he's missing????? Does anyone else have this problem???

Pets are just plain weird (just like humans are ) and therefore they often exhibit some weird habits. Also, cats simply like to knaw and chew on things. My old cat is named Pepper (a tabby-tortoise mix who was quite a character). We had all sorts of pet names (nicknames) for her: Peppermint Patty, Stinky, Peppi, Dr. Pepper, Mama Bear, etc. She used to like Starburst candy.... She would also chew on socks and get attached to it and growl if you tried to take it from her (this is when she was a baby). She once bit clean through a pair of headphones that was stuck inside my purse, and proceeded to put the headphones back in my purse after she did it (I kid you not)...But she was so cute that you couldn't stay mad at her for long. Awe, I miss her terribly (she passed away in June )...

I have two other cats now--Pinky (a boy; he was my Grandma's cat and she named him that b/c of his cute little pink nose), and a boy kitten named Paddington (like Paddington Bear--he looks just like a little teddy bear w/ his fur and big eyes)...We call Pinky Pinkster, Papa Bear, Pink Panther, etc. and we just got Paddington and named him yesterday. So far we call him by his name, Lil' One (I call him that), Little Bear, etc.

I love my babies.

cats chewing on wires

We have had our cat for 12 years, and he is really hysterical.

He chews on wires, specifically, the cable wire and the computer wires, when we are not paying enough attention to him, ie. momentarily speaking to someone else.

Crystal,
I love the princess idea. Now you can find all sorts of accessories for your kitten!

I like Princess, too. Or Princess Snow.

I was always fascinated by the Sidney Sheldon book where the black cat was named Snowball and the white cat was named Midnight!
