HAHAHAHA....I totally remember the DGs banging on the windows and everything the year before! How funny that they fell out! I can't at all believe that!!

I have two favorite exit songs.

The first goes

Good-bye, Good-bye, Good-bye, Good-bye
Good-bye to you from Pi Beta Phi
And when you're home and safe in bed
With Pi Phi spirit running through your head
And when you wake, you'll know it's true
Pi Phi needs a sister like you
Good-bye, Good-bye, Good-bye, Good-bye
Good-bye to you from Pi Beta Phi

I only really like this song because we used to think that the words went "with Pi Phi spirits running through your head." Whenever we had to sing it we would just crack up because we were imagining ghosts of the founders floating through the dorms telling the pnms to pick Pi Phi. I think that we were so loopy after the workshops and parties that pretty much ANYTHING would crack us up.

My REAL favorite exit song is Remeber the Golden Arrow. It's really pretty (and it is perfect for pref night!). It is one of the songs that makes me cry almost every time that I hear it!

exit songs

We use two and I love both. The first ones for the first three days and the seconds for pref. The first ones super upbeat and sticks in your head for days and the second ones very hauntingly beautiful.

alpha xi delta is so glad you came,
we hope tomorrow you'll be back again,
the time will go by so quickly soon you'll see,
you want to be an alpha xi DELTA

remember alpha xi deltla,
remember when your away,
remeber how great it would be to wear a golden quill someday,
remember no matter what happens our gold and double blue,
remember alpha xi delta and we will remember you

We do this also...only it's

GB, GB, GB, GB (obviously goodbye but I'm lazy)
GB to you from Gamma Phi,
And when you're home asleep in bed,
Gamma Phi dreams running through your head.
And when you're awake, you'll know it's true,
Gamma Phi wants a sister like you...

It is sooo catchy! They sang it my first or second night of recruitment and I could not get it out of my head!

We also do remember with our linger chant, which is another one that sticks, and we sing "Tonight" at the end of pref which always gets stuck in my head:

Tonight while the crescent moon shines in the sky,
I'll think of the love found in dear Gamma Phi,
A million tomorrows shall all pass us by,
Ere I forget the true friendships we've found tonight...

I will be loyal and show that I care,
You'll know who I am by the pin that I wear.
To each of my sisters I'll always be true,
And share joys and tears with you....

However I can't wait to hear that sung by another chapter as mine is somewhat tone deaf and I didn't help. I also LOVE our candlepass song, called "I See the Moon," but we haven't done a candlepass in 10 years so I only half-know the words.

OK, it's been a while, but I think this is how it goes:

My, oh my
It's time to say goodbye
It's really getting kinda late.
But before you go,
We want you to know
The Alpha Phis think you're great.
You smiled so well, we liked you so well
We all agreed, you're the best indeed
Hurry back real soon, til the adieu
From the Alpha Phis to all of you
Boom boom, boom boom, boom boom boom boom

It was really cute. We sang it in a quick, sing songy kind of way while we moved our arms back and forth and snapped our fingers.

My favorite one is called Way down yonder:
way down yonder where the devil rules,
You won't find an AOII among those fools,
you'll find us up in the heavens above
with our wings locked together in sisterly love,
We gotta A, L, P-H-A
gotta O-M-I-C-R-O-N
gotta P, I , AOII
we'll be sisters til we die

We always sing "Goodbye" to the tune of "Heigh-Ho, Heigh-Ho"
Goodbye, Goodbye so long from AOII
The time has come to end our fun,
Goodbye, Goodbye from AOII,
we say, come back another day
We're glad you came
don't forget our name is AOII

We sang the coke song too! After a while, I competely hated it, and coke comercials too. We altered it a bit more to suit our house, but I forget all the specific words, but something like:

The pearls will always shine,
The doves will always sing,
Wherever there is fun,
there's always Sigma Kappa...

it's from the 'goodnight sweetheart'

good night rushee
well, it's time to go
good night rushee
well, it's time to go
we hate to leave you
but we really must say
good night rushee
good night

or the ever popular 'linger'

mmm-mmm
i want to linger
mmm-mmm
a little longer
mmm-mmm
a little longer here with you(snap snap)
mmm-mmm
it's such a perfect night
mmm-mmm
it doesn't seem quite right
that it's the last we'll spend with you (snap snap)

(repeat till all the girls are gone)

goodnight goodnight
Alpha Gam says goodnight to you

goodnight goodnight
Alpha Gam says goodnight to you

and then there is more but I forgot... it is really sweet and we only did it one year but I love it.

AGD has the coke songs but I think we use it to sing you in.

I have been trying for years to come up with words for that Goodnight sweetheart song. I never thought about using Rushees... we try too hard to be PC and it really takes the fun out of Rush sometimes.

I am really surprised that I am the first AGD to post on this thread.... go figure.

Let me see... my favorite "good bye" song is the one that Isn't Being Screamed Into My Ears!!!!! Nothing says "don't pledge here" like a migraine!

As for actual songs, the ever popular Linger is nice, but we did a peppy one for the round before pref:

Bye bye! Bye bye!
Wipe a tear Baby dear from your eye!
We hate to see you go!
You'll soon be back, we know!

Don't sigh, don't cry!
Won't do to be blue A D Pi!
Cheerio ring-ding
Bon soir we sing
Boom da de boom Bye bye!

It's so corny that it's catchy!

We sing that song on "Cokes" day at Purdue. Kind of ironic... hehe. But I like the song, it definitely is one that gets stuck in my head.

"The pearls will always shine
The doves will always sing.
As long as we are sisters
It's always the real thing.
Sisters are forever
And we're number one.
So come join Sigma K
and we'll have some real fun.
Dooo-dooo-doo-doo, always Sigma Kappa.
Dooo-dooo-doo-doo, it's always the real thing."

I wish I knew the tunes that all of these songs went to! I always try to sing them in my head and then i wonder if I got it right. If any of these are to familiar or describable tunes please post them, it's kinda driving me crazy!!! (they are all really cute songs though).

I can't remember how this one good bye chant goes that we have,I just know at the end it goes:

"Boom, Boom good-bye from Sigma Tri" with claps on the boom booms.

it has no tune though

then we do (I hope I get this right):

Triiiiiii Sigmas are the greatest
tris sigmas are the best
we've got the personality to beat out all the rest
weeeee've really got the spirit
we've got the pep and drive
we've got the personality to keep this place alive!

oooooooh boom boom cha cha boom boom yes,
boom boom cha cha Tri Sigmas are the best!!!!!!

(the first word of every couple lines is long and slow and then the rest of the phrase is chanted out quickly and steadily with a clap on every beat)
