* The weather will always keep you on your toes (snowing one day, bathing suit weather the next)
* Surrounded by the Great Lakes...perfect for summer getaways
* Mackinac Island ROCKS! (it's gorgeous and they have awesome fudge)
* Great places for camping and other nature getaways
* Canada, Chicago, and Cedar Point are within a reasonable driving distance
* Plus, we have the best Teacher colleges and universities in one state...everyone recruits here

Last But Not Least...
* Where else can your hand double as a map!?!

I may live in Texas, but I still bleed the Crimson and Cream of the University of Oklahoma! And like the Texas A&M Aggies, we both have a sworn and mortal enemy... that bastion of subversive thought in Austin called the University of Texas, best known as t.u. by the Aggies!

Boomer Sooner, Boomer Sooner,
Boomer Sooner, Boomer Sooner,
Boomer Sooner, Boomer Sooner,
Boomer Sooner, OK-U!

Oklahoma, Oklahoma,
Oklahoma, Oklahoma,
Oklahoma, Oklahoma,
Oklahoma, OK-U!

I'm Sooner born and Sooner bred,
And when I die I'll be Sooner dead!
Rah, Oklahoma, Rah, Oklahoma,
Rah, Oklahoma, OK-U!

JERSEY

OK, so I had to get a little Jersey pride in here. What other state, can you be within a metropolitian area-no matter where you go??

You want cows? We got cows
Wanna ski?? We got moutians
Want the beach-ya we got got that.
Don't want to go north of the Mason Dixion Line? Don't have to in Jersey...Don't want to go south of the Mason Dixion Line, don't have to either.
BonJovi, Bruce Spingsteen, Frank Sinatra...Baseball...all from here.

And may I add, Cream:
Technically, the Statue of Liberty lies on the Jersey side...yup. Thats why NY had to take it off their license plates.

I could go on forever, as I'm sure we all could about our state. Ok, just had to send out a little Jersey pride

Maybe we could have a New York, New Jersey battle here. I won't trash another state, but it might be fun to watch.

I probably should weigh in here.

I've been to every place mentioned here (so far), and have been to Texas many times. I worked for a Texas company for a while.

In my personal opinion, Texas is OK. Not stupendous. It's got some great stuff and some bad stuff. One thing it certainly doesn't lack is ego. In fact, again in my opinion, what makes people dislike Texas has more to do with the attitude that Texans try to stuff down your throat than anything wrong with Texas.

The fact is that everywhere I've lived, visited or been to for business has good and bad points. Texas is far from my favorite, but it also isn't the worst by a long shot.

I know that some of the attitude is supposed to be in fun, but it gets out of hand. It's great to be proud of your state, but not at the expense of someone elses. We're all proud of our states, and some take major offense at someone putting it down.

Games are fun, but name calling can get ugly and cause serious hurt feelings. So far, this has been OK, but let's keep it that way, huh? Have fun, but be mindful of others.

I love it here - we get all four seasons! I love winter, I am goofy like that. I think it's because I like hats and mittens so much.

I could never trash NY...its too close to my second home. I stare out my window, and see Manhattan. I run across the bridge from my town for part of my workouts, and I'm in a boro of NYC.

Now if someone from South Jersey started raggin on North Jersey, then I'd have to accept. Which leads me to a question- does anyone else's state have a North vs South, or East Vs West or some kind of geographical feud about their state??? I think the whole reason Jersey has that kinda thing is because the people in South Jersey identify with Philly and the people from North Jresey identify with NYC.

Just curious...

I think Wisconsin has a Milwaukee v. Madison v. everyone else fight!

I loved Jersey when I was out there this summer - my aunt lived in Basking Ridge and her condo was so pretty and in a wooded area, and then 5 minutes away were stores. It was great.

And bagels out east - wow! Not even close to Panera, which I loved until then.
