I started reading at age 3. I would stay up past my bedtime with the lights on very dim, and read... no wonder I needed glasses before I was 7

On the other hand, I was late starting to talk. I was exposed on a daily basis to a British mother, a father from Brooklyn, a Hispanic housekeeper, and an Irish babysitter, all with thick accents... my pediatrician's theory was that I was confused.

I never liked "girl toys" with the exception of my Raggedy Ann collection. Someone gave me a Barbie doll once - I played with it once and then put it away. I preferred Lego.

I never learned to ride a bike.

I was 12 before I learned to swim.

I did the school thing too... I must have the best-educated Raggedy Anns and Andys in the country. I taught them algebra and they smiled at me anyway

I did not talk until late, and according to my parents, I was reading before I learned to talk.

I peed my pants all the time because I was scared to use the elementary school bathrooms and get some disease from them.
My bf and I made up our own carnvial in her yard and invited people, but it was nap time for all the 2-4 yr olds. the only people that came were some 4th grades(my bf and I were in 2nd grade) so they could play on the slip and slide. I read all the time and i liked to play in my closet.

on another note I remember in 4th grade that a boy, Gavin, used to get females to pose like the women in Playboy.

Well, May Day strolled around and there was a boy in the neighborhood that everyone disliked and his last name was Trojan so we called him "Troll Man" We decided to make him his May Day basket.

We collected poop, and proceeded to put it on his front steps, ring the doorbell, they'd get rid of it, and we'd do it, oh 6 more times. And then as we strolled down the sidewalk we'd sing "how many poopies are there inside"
OMG i so remember that commercial and i'm glad i do b/c my eyes are leaking from imagining these lil kids saying "poopie" instead of "puppy" in that song, and by god that's hilarious!!

wooooo!

my mom also reminded me today that i would like to slide down stairs on a cookie sheet....she thinks it was b/c i liked to see my life flash b/4 my eyes, but i don't really remember doing that.

I was the child from hell in many respects

Could speak and knew the alphabet by 13 months.. Reading before I started preschool..

In K-3rd grade I spent so much time in the principals office (always in trouble) that we played chess.. I apparently was better than he was

Always wandering off in groups and getting lost, wasn't allowed to go on some field trips for that reason..

Went to a smaller school from 4-6 grade (MAYBE 30 students in 1-8th grades). Read at college + levels, always in remedial math... damn some things never change

Took part in some of the first studies to diagnose ADHD. Local schools didn't believe you could take part in both the gifted and LD programs at the same time
