Franklin Told to Clean Up Mess From Fire
May 2, 5:58 AM EST
After a six-month investigation into the cause of a fire at her Oakland County mansion, Aretha Franklin now has 10 days to clean up the mess.
"The investigation is complete, and now it is time to clean up the property," Kaye Chartier, Bloomfield Township's code and ordinance director, told The Oakland Press for Thursday's editions.
Investigators earlier this year ruled the Oct. 25 fire at the Bloomfield Township mansion was arson. No charges have been filed.
Franklin, who was in Texas at the time of the fire, has 10 days to clean up the site and 30 days to inform the township of her plans to either renovate or demolish the house, Chartier said.
"If she doesn't cooperate, the township can take legal action," said Chartier, adding that she expects the singer to fully cooperate.
Franklin's attorney, Saul Green, had no comment.
After months of declining to speak to investigators, the 61-year-old Franklin met with Oakland County prosecutors in February after an investigative subpoena was issued.
Oakland County Prosecutor David Gorcyca said he will meet with Bloomfield Township police to discuss possible charges in the case.
And she's suppose to retire from touring? She will need to tour to pay for this

People: Halle's 'Beautiful'
Apr 30, 3:11 PM EST
(Associated Press) -- For the seventh time, Halle Berry is on People magazine's annual list of the "50 Most Beautiful People in the World" — but making it there repeatedly isn't easy.
The 34-year-old actress, who's on the cover of the issue that comes out Friday, says she works out daily with a treadmill and weights, and maintains a strict diet of chicken, fish, vegetables, brown rice and tabbouleh.
"I'm not obsessive, like I have to have the best butt or the best abs, but I like the idea of feeling strong and healthy," says Berry, who co-stars in the upcoming "X-Men" sequel. "It's important to feel good about myself physically. It's something I think about."
Julia Roberts is on the "Most Beautiful" list for a record eighth time. Also appearing this year are Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez, twin teen stars Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, "American Idol" host Ryan Seacrest, singers Norah Jones and Usher, and basketball player Tony Parker of the San Antonio Spurs.

I got this from another site:
-She is stating that her album is shelfed (not coming out anymore) Ill NA NA 2 the FEVER because her and P. DIDDY could not see eye to eye (he has 1/2 ownership to her) and that she wants to get off Def Jam, that they show her no respect being that she was The First (female rapper) Lady of Def Jam... Russell Simmons not once has invited her to a Phat Farm show, nor has Kimora Lee (and she has made Def Jam soo much money) she says that she felt like Russell should have come to her and asked her to be a spokes model for Baby Phat, and that Calvin Klien had even come to her to do ads for him (she got more love from others that Def Jam)
That she and Lyor Cohen (he's the CEO of Def Jam) got into an argument when she requested for her contract to be broken that he told her he would not let her go over his dead body and that she called him a devil and he hung up on her (so basically she's legally bind to Def Jam and they've shelfed her album)
-She said that she's had 2 miscarriages
once was Kurupts child the other was Spragga Benz.
and that Spragga was really upset and blamed her on the miscarriage saying that she was stressed and wouldn't chill (and due to this it strained there relationship) and that he's the one and how she loves him and all.
-She said that she DOES NOT LIKE EVE.. when Wendy asked her why she said "I JUST DON'T LIKE HER" then she said she will keep it real and tell WHY she doesn't like EVE..
she said that Eve came up to her one day (when she was sitting in her drop top outside of Justin's resturant) and that Eve was outside waiting for Puffy to come out so that she could rap for him (at this point Eve was not put on yet) and that Eve came up to her and told her how much she loved her and admired her, well shortly after Eve gets signed to Ruff Ryders and during this time Ruff Ryders and Def Jam had a tour in which Foxy was part of well DMX was tryin to holler at her (which she denies they were romantically linked) she stated that she wasn't feelin him because she was in a SERIOUS relationship with Kurupt (they were engaged at this time) so Eve runs into Kurupt and was like DMX tryin to get at your girl (it just so happns that shortly after Eve put that bug in Kurupts ear) Foxy and DMX happen to be at the same club together and the DJ announces that Foxy and DMX were in the club (now they didn't ride together just a coincidence they were at the same club) now people assumed they were messin when they showed up at the SAME club..(so rumors started)
Kurupt gets upset (and this triggered the Kurupt/DMX beef....remember they both had diss songs out about one another)
she felt like Eve put it out there to Kurupt
and that Eve was fake and knows thats why she doesn't like her because Eve should have never went to her man like that not since she had an engagement ring on her finger.
-She said that she respects Kim because she feels like they both came in the game together and paved the way so together.
-She said she NEVER was romantically linked to Jay Z that she doesn't think he looked good and that she only like the hustler in him.
-Wendy asked her if she thought Jay Z and Beyonce were the REAL DEAL and she said NO, she doesn't think Jay Z is the settling down type but she thought that Nas and Kelis were the real deal, she said she just ran into Jay Z a couple of days ago (then Wendy was asking her if he was tryin to holla at her and she started laughing and was like she's not going there)

Arnold Sued for Harassment
May 1, 12:14 PM EST
(Associated Press) -- A hairstylist on Fox Sports Network's "The Best Damn Sports Show Period," has filed a sexual harassment lawsuit against hosts Tom Arnold and former NBA player John Salley, along with several others involved with the show.
Lisa Brescher says she began working for the sports talk show in August 2001, and from the first day "was subjected to an environment of unrestrained sexual harassment," according to a Superior Court lawsuit filed Wednesday.
The 29-year-old left on a disability claim in February, the lawsuit says; it was unknown whether the disability was because of the alleged harassment or some other injury. She's seeking unspecified damages.
Phone messages left after hours Wednesday for Arnold's publicist and for a 20th Century Fox spokesman weren't immediately returned. Fox parent News Corp. and its owner, Rupert Murdoch, also are named as defendants.
Brescher claims that Arnold, the show's executive producer, and Salley, who won championships with the Detroit Pistons, Chicago Bulls and Los Angeles Lakers, made unwelcome sexual advances.
The lawsuit states that when Brescher made her feelings known about Arnold's alleged advances, he replied that "he didn't care." It also claims that Arnold, 44, branded her "a troublemaker" and banned her from the set so she couldn't do her job.
When Brescher filed a sexual harassment complaint with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Arnold allegedly retaliated by taking her off her "lucrative Sunday shift."
The lawsuit states Salley "regularly pawed (and) groped" her and made unwelcome references to his sexual prowess. It also claims that Salley, 38, made suggestive comments and "leered" at her.
Other employees also made unwanted advances, Brescher claims, but the alleged actions of Arnold and Salley were most egregious

'Bling Bling' Added To Oxford English Dictionary
Term joins words like 'jiggy,' 'dope' and 'phat' in the definitions resource.
by Minya Oh
The next time you and your pals coin a slang term to describe your latest bejeweled accessories, don't bet on keeping it exclusive. The linguistics "gangstas" over at the Oxford English Dictionary aren't "new jacks" to the latest "def" lingo.
The venerable definitions resource has already added other hip-hop-turned-mainstream terms like "jiggy," "breakbeat," "dope" and "phat" to the online updates of the 20-volume dictionary, and now it has started drafting an entry for the latest OED-approved term, "bling bling."
The term, which is used to describe diamonds, jewelry and all forms of showy style, was coined by New Orleans rap family Cash Money Millionaires back in the late '90s and started gaining national awareness with a song titled "Bling Bling" by Cash Money artist BG.
The rapper, who is currently promoting his new album, Living Legend, told MTV News, "I'm so surprised that that word has spread like it has. But I knew it was serious when I saw that the NBA championship ring for the Los Angeles Lakers had the word 'bling bling' written in diamonds on it."
And while BG once felt territorial about his much-loved term, he's since opened his arms to the slang's universal appeal.
" 'Bling bling' will never be forgotten," he said. "So it's like I will never be forgotten. I just wish that I'd trademarked it, so I'd never have to work again."
This report is provided by MTV News
 What now?

Re: FOXY BROWN's secrets and stuff
Ok I had to go back and call a few folks to make sure I ain't telling the wrong info. I was on the net at the time of the interview and folks were giving me the 411 and they had the interview on her website foxboogie.com but it's gone now.
Basically Foxy went on the Wendy Williams show and let it ALL out!
On Wednesday's broadcast of The Wendy Williams Show in New York, Foxy explained that her album has been shelved (pushed back) indefinitely. She admitted to Wendy Williams that her album was supposed to drop in May,but that Def Jam/Bad Boy Records, who are 50/50 owners of her contract, have shelved the project because Foxy and P. Diddy could not agree on the contractual terms.
Foxy also told Wendy that she asked Def Jam CEO Lyor Cohen to let her out of her recording contract. "His response was, 'Over my dead body am I letting you go. You're stuck.' Verbatim. And I called him a devil and he hung up on me."
Ok she did explain that Def Jam is doing her dirty. She said that Lyor Cohen the head of Def Jam said he would never let her out of her contract and I do remember that is what he said "over my dead body" but I don't know about her saying "devil" or whatnot. Puffy did buy half of her contract but that doesn't matter, everyone will get paid before her. She has a bad deal and owns them 4 more albums. Her next Album is a good one but they shelved it because she couldn't come to terms with Def Jam or Puffy about the direction she wanted to go. She said right now, the only person she would work with is Dre and Aftermath, but they would have to buy out her contract, which would be a lot.
In addition to that, Foxy let it all out about her bisexual
relationship with Missy Eliot, Eve, Kurupt, Jay-Z, Nas, and a host
of others situations ranging from her 3rd miscarriage and admits that her Father took her virginity.
Some of the interview highlights include:
her feelings about Irv Gotti. "...Irv Gotti to me is the biggest rise
fall of Hip-Hop history. it's sad but that's karma..." the discussion
of the miscarriage with her boyfriend Spragga Benz. The truth behind her beef with Eve. "...It has nothing to do with music...the reason why Kurupt ever found out about anything about DMX having a secret bisexual crush on Kurupt, was through him...DMX and I never had anything..." her discussions with Def Jam about who is falling off on the label. "They [Def Jam] told me clearly, 'Ja's over, X is damn near on his way out, and Jay-Z is trying hard to get a comeback. Those are their words." her desire to sign with Dr. Dre /Aftermath. "To me, like 50 Cent, he [Dr. Dre] lets his
artist live." Her nickname for Nas. "I call him King Cobra. AZ and I have always gave him that nickname because Nas is a slithery homosexual..." [/QUOTE]
[/b]
No this is not true. She did not even mention Missy from what I remember nor did bisexuality come in to play at all during the convo. She did say that the reason why her and Eve are not cool is because during the time Foxy was with Kurupt(who she said took her virginity, I doubt that, but Foxy isn't a hoe in the biz like some of these broads either) and Fox was on tour with DMX, DMX was feeling her and flirting. Eve went back and told Kurupt that Foxy was messing with DMX, which lead to them breaking up and him doing the song "Calling out Names" to DMX. So that is the real reason why they don't get along. She talked about her miscarriage(I don't remember her mentioning 3) that just happened recently with her boyfriend Spragga Benz. This was the only time during the interview that she cried. She said that he blamed her for the miscarriage and now he is back in Jamacia with his kids and wife She loves Spragga to death and was so hurt when he blamed her because she allowed herself to be stressed about the Def Jam situation. She also implied that Puffy was NOT happy about her being pregnant and suggested she have an abortion( I believe that, look at how fast Puffy kicked off homegirl on Making the Band 2)
She said the she thinks the relationship between Jay-Z and Beyonce is not real cause they live too far from each other, she never had sex with him, he didn't write her rhymes she did and whenever he wrote like one sentence for her, it would turn around like "oh Jay wrote Foxy's whole album" which isn't true. She said she never had sex with Jay and he wasn't attractive to her.
On Nas, yes she did call him King Cobra, but she didn't call him a homo . She said that her and AZ call him that because he does buisness shady. When all that mess went down with Hot 97 in New York, Nas called her up and said "everyone is against me, back me up." So she went on Hot 97 and did just that. But after that Nas hasn't called her since. I believe her on that because in the recent interview with Ja Rule and Irv Gotti, Irv said the exact same thing. Saying Nas called Irv to back him up and they put him on "The Pledge" and he hasn't called him since.
The only reason why she isn't broke and will never be broke is because her mother handles her buisness and convinced her to buy some Brownstones, she rents them out and they are a million each. so that is where she gets her money. She doesn't get squat from music.
whew! Ok that's it! I'm your hip hop reporter QTE

WHY CAN'T TORI GO?
Some people skip their high school reunions because they're fat or unsuccessful or they don't want to run into the people who were mean to them. Svelte TORI SPELLING won't attend the Beverly Hills, 90210 10-year high school-reunion show, airing on Fox May 11, because "she's moved on," ( moved on......to what? )her publicist says. Some press reports, however, have said the daughter of series creator Aaron Spelling is angry that Fox won't give her a pilot and bitter toward tempestuous former co-star Shannen Doherty, who is appearing on the program. The reunion will include interviews with Jason Priestley, Luke Perry, Doherty and others talking about their auditions and "what the show has meant for establishing their careers as successful actors," according to a Fox press release. That part of the special promises to be fairly short. (*LOL*)
THE BLUEPRINT PART III: THE SNEAKERS
When you're a filthy-rich rapper romancing the fetching lead singer of Destiny's Child, kids want to walk in your shoes. But when JAY-Z's sneaker line, the first from a nonathlete, became the fastest-selling shoe in Reebok history ( gees its just Reebok....when was the last time YOU bought a pair....j/k)last week, desperate kids proved willing to pay more than twice the retail price of $100 for the privilege. The first shoe in the "S. Carter collection by RbK" (Jay-Z's real name is Shawn Carter) sold out in 10 cities. The sneaker is just the latest offering from the unabashedly commercial rapper; his clothing line and vodka are already in stores, and more footwear is due in July. One product idea: Jay-Z's mighty bootstraps.

(5/5/03, 1 p.m. ET) -- New York radio personality Funkmaster Flex--whose real name is Aston George Taylor Jr.--agreed to pay $4000 DAYUM! a month in child support on Wednesday (April 30), for his two year-old son, Dante, after a DNA test proved he was the child's father.
Flex, who is married to Monica Joseph and has one-and-a-half year-old daughter Jayden, initially denied that he was the child's father when approached by the child's mother, Haydee Diaz.
Diaz, who met Flex in 1998, maintains that he told her he was single. Diaz only learned Flex was married after reading it in the local paper. Diaz told the New York's Daily News, "I was naive."
According to court documents, Flex earned $200,000 last year.
Diaz's attorney Suzanne Kimberly Bracker explained how child support works in the New York courts. "And in New York state we have something called the Child Support Guidelines which is we look at the first $80,000 of combined parental income and we apply for this particular case it would be 17 percent and then anything above his income past and the combined parental income of $80,000 is discretionary with the court," Bracker said.
In addition to his radio gig, Funkmaster Flex has released four albums in his Mixtape series on Loud Records, each of which have sold more than 500,000 copies. In December 1999, Flex and his partner Big Kap released The Tunnel on Def Jam Records, and that set went gold as well.
Funkmaster Flex also owns and operates Franchise Records & Promotions and Team Baurtwell Racing, and has several endorsement deals with companies such as Nike and Lugz. Flex is also slated to host his own show on custom cars on TNN.

Winfrey Eyes Two More Years of 'Oprah' Talk
Tue May 06, 1:34 AM ET
She's back -- or at least not going away anytime soon.
Oprah Winfrey has had a change of heart about wrapping up her syndicated talk show in the 2005-06 season and is close to finalizing a deal to renew her show for two more seasons, through the 2007-08 season, with distributor King World Prods. and the core ABC-owned stations that carry the show, sources said Monday.
Negotiations have been quietly taking place for several weeks among King World, Winfrey and the seven ABC outlets that form the backbone of the talk show's affiliate station base. But it was reportedly not a shoo-in for the ABC stations as the CBS-owned stations, King World's corporate siblings under the Viacom umbrella, were understood to have made a significant bid to land "The Oprah Winfrey Show (news - Y! TV)" in 2006.
It is understood that the ABC stations re-upping, including the group's flagships -- WABC New York, KABC Los Angeles and WLS Chicago -- are paying significantly higher license fees to lock in the highest-rated talk show in syndication.
Winfrey made it clear last year that she was bowing out of the show when she committed to host until the end of the 2005-06 season. That decision sent syndication program development executives scrambling and put stations actively on the lookout for replacements; ergo, her decision to stay on for at least an extra two years will also have a ripple effect throughout the syndication business.
For instance, it had been speculated that Buena Vista Television, which is corporately aligned to the ABC station group under the Walt Disney Co., was anticipating that its daytime strip "The Wayne Brady Show" might move into the "Oprah" slots on the ABC stations in time. It is also understood that Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution was anticipating an opportunity to open up some real estate in "Oprah" time periods for its upcoming talk show "Ellen," hosted by Ellen DeGeneres .
It is not clear what the situation will be with the King World-syndicated hit talk show "Dr. Phil," hosted by Dr. Phil McGraw. McGraw came to prominence on "Oprah," and Winfrey's company Harpo Prods. created the concept of his show. A noncompete clause currently prevents stations from airing "Dr. Phil" directly against "Oprah." Most, if not all, "Dr. Phil" stations assumed that when "Oprah" went away, they would be able to move "Dr. Phil" into key new time periods. It is understood that the noncompete clause will continue to apply to the "Dr. Phil" stations when they come to renew through 2008. "Dr. Phil" is being renewed for the 2004-05 and 2005-06 seasons and is sold in 95% of the country through 2006.
The latest round of renewals not only puts "Oprah" in a ballgame of its own in terms of license fees but catapults it into a new league altogether. The one-hour strip is known to command license fees of more than $300,000 a week in New York and Los Angeles and grosses an estimated $300 million a year for King World.
Produced by Harpo Prods., the Chicago-based "Oprah" has consistently ranked as daytime's top-rated talk show since its debut in 1986, other than for a brief moment when "The Jerry Springer Show" managed a look in at the top of the syndication talk rankings in the 1998-99 season. Over that period, Winfrey has become an international superstar and entrepreneur, delving into television, production and a Winfrey-branded monthly magazine. Her talk show boasts an average audience of about 26 million viewers a week.
King World declined comment Monday, while a Winfrey spokeswoman did not return a call seeking comment.

112 Team Up With Sean Paul, Hope To Work With Ghostface Killah
From mtv.com
According to R&B group 112, the politically correct answer as to why they decided to part ways with P. Diddy and Bad Boy last year was the lack of money and attention.
But when talking to MTV News last week, Q, Mike, Slim and Daron said the real reason was because their contract was "doo-doo." Needless to say, they're happy to be signed to Def Jam.
"Just to get that feeling [that] somebody actually believes in you ... [is great]," Mike said recently. "You could tell they feel that they really got something when they got 112. It was a great acquisition for them. The whole vibe is just different. It feels good to know you left one situation and got a better situation."
The group has not entirely severed ties with Puff and Bad Boy, however. Earlier this year it was announced that Bad Boy and Def Jam would be working together to put out 112's projects (see "P. Diddy, Def Jam CEO Lyor Cohen Kiss And Make Up, Go Into Business Together"). For the last few months they've been working in Nashville at a studio owned by country music superstar Reba McIntire and should have an album in stores come August.
"I guess the way they split their money up is a joint venture, but as far as 112, [we're at] Def Jam," Mike said of the deal brokered by Diddy and Island Def Jam head honcho Lyor Cohen. "We still work with [Diddy] as far as getting ideas. We got three joints from his camp. It's no bad blood, it's no love lost."
In fact, the guys said Diddy will appear on their fourth album via a "sexy" and "freaky" cut called "Hot and Sexy" that gives off the same vibe as their popular hit "Peaches & Cream." Atlanta MC T.I., who raps on Bone Crusher's "Never Scared," as well as Joe Budden, make cameos.
"Basically the recording since the first album pretty much has been the same," Daron noted. "Most of the hits we either wrote or produced ourselves. If we did work with a producer ? OK, this guy would do a track, drop it in the studio with us and when we come out, it's a hit. It's pretty much the same. We went to Nashville, created a skeleton of the album and pulled in other producers around the end."
"It's just a variety of music," Mike added. "We have songs that touch home and speak on what happened to us in the music industry, what happened with us at Bad Boy. We're touching on real personal subjects, but we're still keeping it fun, keeping it ghetto.
"The single is [out] in June," he continued. "It's called 'Na, Na, Na.' It features Sean Paul. It's like an ATL [meets] reggae track. You won't see it coming from 112. Even though we push the envelope with a lot of records like 'Peaches & Cream' and 'Anywhere,' this record is really to the left of 112. Not all the way to the left, but it feels like it can be a mesh between dancehall and that Southern feel we have."
Given how hard the group reps ATL, recording in Nashville might have seemed like a bit of a departure. But this marks the second time the group has recorded in the Ville (their third LP, Room 112, was recorded there), and the bandmembers felt that working outside of their hometown and Miami, a hangout spot, prevented them from having too many distractions.
"It was the closest to Atlanta without being in Atlanta," Mike explained. "If [we] recorded in Atlanta, we would still be recording the album right now. We thought about Miami, but we knew we'd still be working on the album now. We wouldn't have even finished a song yet. Our whole independence was established in Nashville, so we was like, 'Let's do it again.' Nashville is like three and half hours from Atlanta, [so] we could still go home on weekends. But we had to get away from Atlanta. Plus, [there's] nothing to do [in Nashville] but record."
Perhaps 112 shouldn't speak too soon, as they may still have to go down to Miami to record. Ghostface Killah is held up down there working on his next soulful opus, and the bathrobe-wearing manipulator of rhyme has been in talks to get the group on his album.
"That would be hot," Slim said, delighted. "[Wu-Tang Clan] are some of the pioneers in hip-hop. We've worked with the best of them, like Biggie, and now you talking about somebody in the Wu-Tang? That would be hot."
