Too many to name...

-I should truly be in the Bad Hair Hall of Fame. In elementary school I had a constant perm. In junior high it was modified to the big SPIRAL perm (anyone else try to get "Baby's" hair from Dirty Dancing?) with high bangs. High School was just really screwy, SHORT bobs. Finally senior year it started coming together once I stopped going to my mom's hairdresser .

-Bubble skirts-I used to rock my acid washed bubble skirt with a white Joey McIntyre shirt that had lime green and hot pink squiggles, two scrunchies (lime green and pink), hoop earrings, two pairs of socks (guess what colors) and white Keds I had puff painted. Oh Lord.

-Umbros (soccer shorts) and Adidas Sambas to school.

-Sweatpants to school (this was at a very preppy high school).

-Flannel shirts. God bless grunge.

-Anyone remember when B.U.M. was THE label to have? In 9th grade I had two B.U.M. sweatshirts (purple and peach) that I thought I was so cool in.

!!

okay, in hs i was the ultimate 90's hippy. among other things....
i started gaining weight in hs and still tried to wear clothes ment for smaller people.
1. crinkle skirts with wool socks and sandles.
2. tshirt with overalls and a flannel shirt over it
3. had the ultra long staight hair
4. denim pants (not jeans) with a denim top
5. hanes "wife beater" tank top undershirts (no offense, that's seriously what they are called around here)
6. vietnam war combat boots (from my dad) with cut off shorts (and the tanktop undershirt)

in middle school i tried to be the total in style chick. i used to own these black and white diamond pattern leggings and this black and white poka dot babydoll dress that i wore together with a big black hat. i totally emulated clarissa! oh yeah! and i used to use aqua net like it was going out of style (no pun intended). one day i sprayed so much on my hair that it ended up looking white. oh yes, i went there.

in college i did sometimes wear sweatpants to class sometimes, but not much. JEANS!! still my all time favorite. anything goes with jeans. a lot of times i just didn't really care what i was wearing and just didn't match, but usually i did look somewhat okay. junior and senior years i did end up going out to the bars in jeans, tshirt and wal mart flip flops. no joke, i seriously did. i just didn't care at that point. i was there to get my drink on, not hit on the guys. gee, wonder why i'm not married yet???

now i'm getting better. i like to dress nicely and look nice when i go out. i even wear make up now.

I can't tweeze, it just hurts and I have blonde eyebrows so I just wax every 2-3 weeks.

My pink purse with green palm trees (nuff said)

The shoe laces and random ribbons I use as belts and hair ties, yes ladies I even made a ribbon to wear in my hair to formal.

My flips, the just appear to match everything. Even the sparkles.

My cheap jewlery wich I love and yet still get compliments on ALL of the time. I really do love my $7.00 ring.

Plus, I had really long hair so I took a little braid and ran it across my forehead. OH, and don't forget "flowers in the hair", yep!

Now Carnation, how low did your hip huggers go and how tiny was your halter top. I have pictures!

sshhhh-Did you ever paint a flower on your face?
Nix on the flower but my hiphuggers were loooow! As I was the only ag major around a million guys, I had to watch it with the halters, though!

And yes...raccoon eyes, courtesy of Yardley, in junior high. I am getting sooo embarrassed here!

KNICKERS! I had a dark green pair that I wore with green argyle wool socks that I still own. I also had a purple pair that I wore with pink sparkly socks. We all wore knickers that year.

So I have always been your basic new england preppy child, with a few exceptions:

1) STIRRUP PANTS in elementary school... shudder, shudde4
2)I feel like Khakis and a vest are too much on a fifth grader... I looked like DJ Tanner, complete with baby chub
3) In sixth grade, being 4'6" and 60 lbs, I had all these little matchy-matchy outfits from the Limited too... Strawberry tshirt, shorts with a strawberry embroidered near the hem, matching strawberry earrings... and jelly sandals in EVERY color
4) In seventh grade I thought I was the height of sophistication wearing my UMBROS to gym class
5) Eighth grade... highlights I did myself ... i had an orange racing stripe down the center of my head (again, shudder)
6) Ninth grade... not as bad as other years, other than the LAYERS of makeup, and the platform shoes from 9&Co
7) Tenth grade... i wore some weirdo vintage clothes and NEVER dried my hair or wore makeup (my friends do not believe me that I ever looked like this)
8) Eleventh grade... Back to preppy, i think i overused push up bras though... they look odd under polo shirts
9) Senior year... there was an ill- considered pair of black pants... and my hair was too long
10) Freshman year of college... overplucked eyebrows

Now I have my occassional off days but I generally look preppy and put together... except on hungover days when I wear a juicy jumpsuit

ah yes, stirrup pants...but did you ever wear one of those snap-in-the-crotch leotard things underneath them? and did it have poet sleeves/poet neck (renaissance style ruffles/bells)...i had about 12 of them in various colors/patterns. whoa.

i can't even begin to count how many vests i wore in elementary school. i even had a navy blue one with a sparkly galaxy pattern that i bought specifically to wear to the 3rd-grade science fair. i wore it with a white shirt and shorts with leggings underneath, white scrunched up socks, and of course...KEDS.
i had a really cool multicolored suede vest (purple, teal, pink and black) that i wore with a purple ruffle-y shirt, black skirt, black tights and black and purple saddle shoes. how cool was i? haha

how many other people wore HEADBANDS...and 3 different scrunchies like bracelets on each wrist? hehehe

all of my elementary school pictures have me in a shirt, vest, and headband. lol

In 5th grade, I was the hairbow queen!

I had lots of those plastic ones filled with different stuff - I'd make them myself.

My favorite one was the one filled with water. It was awesome.

Today I'm kind of a fashion faux pas - yoga pants, black tank, platform flip flops and a jean jacket.
(with CZ jewelry and a kate spade - go fig!)

I avoided a faux pas for the wedding i was in saturday - I wore toeless pantyhose! No hose and sandals for me!

Oh, holy crap. I had knickers. They were like a dark, earthy green color, and I wore them with a striped sweater and knee socks.

I wore leg warmers. I actually had a whole drawer full of leg warmers -- I had red, purple, green & white striped, to name a few.

Yellow pants. When I was in jr. high, people used to wear Forenza stuff from the Limited. I had these yellow pants with snaps on the bottom and a yellow, white and orange shirt that said FORENZA across the front. Egads.

I also went through my "heavy metal" phase in junior high, where I wore really, really tight pants and a bandana tied around my ankle. I dumped peroxide on my hair, had bad perms, and wore those stupid british flag shirts like the guy from Def Leppard.

I was a total punk rock kid in high school and freshman year of college. I used to draw eyeliner strips on my eyelids and I had many gravity defying hairstyles. Then when I went to college and wanted to be more "normal" I curled my hair and OMG, it was AWFUL. What I did to my hair freshman year didn't even make sense. It was like a fried, curly mushroom on crack.

Oh, and I forgot -- I wore ties!

Pictures eh? Those are just the kind that need to go on the GC photo album [cue "Hello, Mrs. Robinson" music]

just kiddin, jam

Ok, these aren't my fashion faux paus, just some i've noticed today that REALLY bug me.

First, guys, i'm sorry, but jean shorts are out. They are, the 90's are over. Get khakis or cargos, c'mon.

AND, and this is a big one. If you get crushed to a crush party, or a date party, or whatever, and you get the shirt before the date of the party....IT IS A BAD MOVE TO WEAR THE SHIRT BEFORE OR TO THE PARTY!!!

just needed to vent, thank y'all
