Ours is Freebird.

It's dedicated to our brothers that we've lost throughout the years.

Some of my best memories are at the end of events, all the bros with arms interlocked, swaying and singing it.

We've got quite a few chapters who do "Yo Ho" as well...TKE, SigEp, Phi Sigma (used to be Phi Sigma Kappa), Sigma Pi, Sigma Tau Gamma, etc...

the all time favorite song in my chapter is "i will survive" by dianna ross. we just had our formal on saturday and when this song came on, we kicked all of the guys off the dance floor and the girls who werent dancing went on the dance floor and started to sing with us. we were singing by the top of our lungs. its just so great how strong my chapter's sisterhood is.

ours is "oh what a night" and my pledge class's is "like a virgin"... the class before mine was "glycerine" and the class after mine was "mo' money mo'problems", of course we have AZD words to them!

we always sang "sweet caroline" to the Lambda chi's....its some kind of strange tradition. and their song was "magic carpet ride"

The local I was a member of had "These Are Days" as its song. The Alpha pledge class had "Respect" as its pledge song.

My chapter is very big on "Living on a Prayer" and "Build Me Up Buttercup." Not at midnight per se, but we'll drop what we're doing, find each other, and belt it out whenever we hear them.

southern pride

The songs that we circle up to at formals and mixers are/were
1. Give me that "nut" (this was the colonizes song, not many of the other classes like it, but that is okay)
2. Sweet Home Alpha Gamma (you can always hear the chorus)
3. Devil Came Down to Georgetown (we have other words to this song, made up by some colony members, but we don't sing the true words in mixed greek company)

I don't understand why we don't sing our words but it has something to do with trying to be very PC (panhellenically correct).

This was a great thread, glad someone thought of it!

Not so much a midnight song....

"Shook Me All Night Long" by AC/DC is definitely our Phi Mu chapter more "modern" chapter song. I love it- but no matter how hard we try we can never remember the full second verse lol.

For our Lip Sync this year, the women's recruitment counselors (aka Rho Chi's, but not anymore) took all the women's "midnight" songs and did their own routine to it... the only songs i remember are Shook Me, We Are Family (for the Alpha Phi's) and Build Me Up Buttercup (for the DZ's). Good times )

During my era, our chapter song was "I will survive." Some of the older girls loved "American Pie." And the other one.....*hanging head* is "The Call" by the BSB.

Red face

I'm a Dee Gee at Morehead State, and right now our song is definitely I love rock n roll....but we changed the lyrics. At the chorus we sing, I love delta g. We did it for recruitment this year, and it was a HUGE success. We also like Sweet Home Alabama (Delta Gamma). But finally, our OFFICIAL song is "The Dog"...everyone on campus knows to move out the way when it comes on. We have our own dance and everything.
Also, I was noticing everyone talking about YO HOE. I'm a Theta Chi lavalier here, and they do what I'm guessing would be a version of that, but it's called Ya Hoot. lol

lol - that song is funny - my chapter usually ended up requesting that when we went to a club as a group.
