I'd say stay the heck away from those women's magazines. For all you ever wanted to know about the G-spot, I'd suggest "Good Vibration's Guide to the G-Spot". It's very comprehensive, and not just "sensationalism".

It refers to partner and manual (vibrator and hand) stimulation. Like I said, it's a pretty decent book...informative without being overly clinical. There are a lot of quotes from women who have experienced the joys of the G-spot, and from men and women who have stimulated their partners.
