Say a prayer for a DG
My mom has been fighting breast cancer since December of last year...we thought she had just beat it, but she has since become very sick...here is an e-mail my dad just sent me:
--------------------------------------------------------
There really is no good way to tell you this, but your Mom is not doing
well.
Barbara's oncologist called this morning wanting to meet with her and me
about
the results of the CAT scan she had Friday. The results were not good.
The scan
revealed spots of cancer in her liver, lungs and spine. The doctor was
shocked at these results. Rarely does cancer grow and spread while a
patient is being treated with chemotherapy and radiation. The doctor
knew of only one instance where this had happened. The oncologist
thought the chemo and radiation would have put the cancer in remission,
but it didn't. All the blood work and testing during her treatments
provided no hint that this was happening. The doctor believes Barbara's
extreme nausea is being caused by the cancer in the liver.
The oncologist is scheduling a bone scan tomorrow and a brain scan on
Thursday; then will meet with us Thursday to discuss options. I wish I
could tell you there are lots of options, but the bottom line is there
really aren't many options. Statistically, patients in this condition
live less than two years. We will be seeing another oncologist on Friday
to get a second opinion.
Mom wanted me to try and keep this from you, but I thought you should
know. There is really nothing we can do. Life does goes on. We both want
you to try to stay focused on your school and studies. That is what will
make her the happiest.
------------------------------------------------------
I am in pieces right now and don't know what to do...she is an Eta DG...please keep her and my family in your thoughts and prayers.
