Awesome!! I've been wanting to see this!

I heard that they were going to make a movie about this with Dan Akroyd...

Yes, but Bill Murray was actually scheduled to play Larson. The project is currently shelved/on hiatus until further notice.

Anyone remember the guy who screamed "BIG BUCKS AND NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO WHAM-EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE" It was really long and drawn out - so hard to forget.

That contestant was named Steve Bryant. Other notable PYL alums included...
Karen Martin
Jim "Cuss Mouth" Hess
Beverlie Peters
Lela ??? (was quite the energy ball and reminded me of Speedy Gonzales with her accent)
Lana Jones

The new Whammy sucks so much it's not even funny.

The new season begins Monday, March 17, and some changes will be in place. They should increase the "+One Spin" spaces, more cash spaces, and less Double Whammy spaces. They did get rid of that hard as heck to win Gem Car space.

Maybe Its just me, but I don't get the Match Game.
Simply put, the premise is "Fill in the punchline to your favorite joke" Match Game in and of itself is more of a comedy show with a game element than the other way around

I have a copy of the first and last episode.
For those who are interested, here is a rather racy video clip of the last Trebek episode of "Double Dare"

Love some TPIR.

Sick at home, watching TPIR, i am 8 all over again. hells yeah.

Also as ZNTkE said, Cale of the Century rocked.. withthe lovely summer bartholmew. ha. my first crush. The best were the celebrity "money cards" lol.

Mathc game rocks. Seriously, Fanny, I know "Whistle Stop Cafe" was a good book (the basis for Fried Green Tomatos) but what else have you done, besides that...and for 7 years? Soem of those contestants were dumb as rocks. Was Richard Dawson clarivoyant? he was way too good at that shit. While on his own show, he was so a sexual predator. WHO KISSES COMPLETE STRANGERS ON THE LIPS? Yeah, sign me up for a little oral herpes or Hepatitis C please.

Hey, did you guys hear that the Chief from "Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?" died? It's so sad! That show was really cool, too.

Lynne Thigpen, Actress in CBS's 'District,' Dies at 54
By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

OS ANGELES, March 13 — Lynne Thigpen, a Tony Award-winning actress for "An American Daughter" and a star of "The District," a drama on CBS, died on Wednesday at her home here. She was 54.

Ms. Thigpen had appeared to be in good health and the cause was not immediately known, a network spokeswoman, Beth Haiken, said.

On Thursday production of "The District" was shut down. The show stars Craig T. Nelson as the police chief of Washington. Ms. Thigpen played his aide, Ella Farmer. The 20th episode was in production this week, Ms. Haiken said. Twenty-two were planned for the season, and no decision has been made about how the death will affect the show.

Ms. Thigpen grew up in Joliet, Ill., and lived primarily in New York. She had a distinguished stage career and also worked steadily in films and television. In 1997 she received a Tony for featured actress in a play for her role as a black Jewish feminist in Wendy Wasserstein's "American Daughter." Ms. Thigpen recreated the role in the 2000 television movie made of that play.

She was nominated for a Tony for her role in "Tintypes" and won Obie Awards for her Off Broadway roles in "Jar the Floor" and "Boesman and Lena" and an Los Angeles Drama Critics Award for her work in a production in that city of August Wilson's "Fences."

On television she portrayed the Chief in the PBS series "Where in the World Is Carmen Sandiego?" and "Where in Time Is Carmen Sandiego?" She appeared in the series "Thirtysomething" and "L.A. Law" and the Hallmark Hall of Fame presentations of "Night Ride Home" and "The Boys Next Door."

Her film credits included "The Insider," "Shaft," "Random Hearts," "Lean on Me," "Bob Roberts," "Tootsie" and most recently "Anger Management."

I can't believe I didn't see this thread until now. I love gameshows...and many times the GSN is my default network when I'm really bored

I love Jeopardy...wanted to try out for College Jeopardy but never got around to it.
On the GSN....
I love watching reruns of $25000 Pyramid, Match Game, Press Your Luck (the ORIGINAL), Family Feud (with Richard Dawson), and the Newlywed Game (the old ones)...one of my college roommates and I would always watch that late at night before going to bed.
I also like watching Cram and Lingo.

As a kid I liked Price is Right but it's annoying to me now. I also always wanted to be on Double Dare...lol. I'm such a dork!

semi-brush with fame - game show contestants

Anyone on GC ever actually been on a Game Show?
Or know someone who was?

A sorority sister of mine was on Price Is Right back in 2000 and won the showcase showdown -- she got a truck, washer/dryer, and a few other things from the showdown and the qualfifying round.

The Price is Right (Once Bob retires, the show needs to do for the respect of the show)

GUTS (My favorite Nick show of all time. I'm a HUGE fan of Moira Quirk.)

Card Sharks 1978-81 (Jim Perry)

Legends of the Hidden Temple(2nd favorite Nick Show)

Bumper Stumpers (Canadian game show that was on American television years ago)

Press Your Luck (not Whammy!)

Double Dare (when Marc Summers was on, not the repulsive Double Dare 2000 revival)

Blockbusters (Bill Cullen's version)

Match Game (Gene Rayburn's version)

Okay, I'm a old school game shows fanatic. Normally, people my age don't like those types because they're boring. But I was born in 1982 so I grew up with game shows juggenaut in the 1980s.

I remember faking that I was sick so that I could stay home and watch them.... it started with the Price is Right at 11:00 am on CBS and went all the way through until Supermarket Sweep and Shop til you Drop on Lifetime at like 5. Thank goodness for the Game Show Network, it definitely keeps me entertained between classes.
