There are also KKG letters - you can't see them all at the same time, but you see the K and then something covers it up and you can see KG. It's there if you watch for it - it's really fast, I never would have caught it if I wasn't looking though.
It upsets me... grr!

LOL, Damn Kevlar281, I can understand you not wanting older/returning students in your chapter . . . am I right?
You age discriminate? An older student can't be a valuable member?
Where do you draw the line?
But maybe you should cut them some slack if they want to get an education?
Or do you think people older than us shouldn't be allowed a college education?
Or maybe just not be allowed to hang out? Like its ok if they go to classes but they can't talk to anyone and have to go right home?
You should bring it up with your student government, I am sure they would feel your pain lol.
Edited to add . . .
As a 57 year old Greek I would like to think I could go back to school with some degree of welcome . . .

Are y'all really upset about that?
Whats the big deal?
They aren't making any claims or anything and the last time I checked using Greek Letters in a background is not blasphemy.
Are maybe y'all are just caught up in the thread and are just kind of ventin'?

I found humor in the way the girls discussed him; “He’s bad news, he’s twenty-eight”. I’m sorry you have been offended by something I interpreted to be funny. Did you even watch the show or is this your attempt to put words in my mouth?

Really? I didn't know that South Jersey is South of the Mason Dixon line. What exit are you?
As for MTV's Sorority Life, sorority sisters don't slap each other. There is no excuse or justification for that type of conduct.

Actually I might be putting words in your mouth over this, because I didn't see the current episode.
If you were merely quoting what the girls said:
quote:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Then I do indeed owe you an apology and will assume that what you put there is pretty much a direct quote directly from the girls.
In which case I do apologize for taking your words out of context and in a very strong manner.
However, if you are just kind of going along with what they were saying and adlibbing it would very much look like you were making a value judgement on the age of an undergrad. *shrug* ITs pretty common. I'll watch it later this week anyway.
As a general rule of thumb I am not much into discrimination or disparagement based on ethnicity, religion, sexual preference, age etc . . . but the other ones seem to get more defenders and quicker.
In the Greek System I have noticed an unconscious automatic prejudice towards older returning students. I guess I should just feel lucky that I didn't fall into that category.
So are you age conscious when it comes to undergrads?

The Mason-Dixon Line separates Maryland from Pennsylvania. Yes, South
Jersey (the part across from Delaware) is south of the line.
This fact was drilled into my head as a pledge. "What was the first
northern Sigma Nu chapter, that is, the first one north of the
Mason-Dixon Line?"
SIRS! PI - LEHIGH SIRS!
No that wasn't hazing, at least not twenty years ago.

If that were one of my sorority's new members, I would want her kicked to the curb. At the very least, she should get a serious talking to about sisterly behavior from the pledgemom or the standards chair. Granted, maybe she did and we just didn't see it because she isn't living in the house but, if it did happen, I think that would have been something worth of seeing. And, the fact that it's drama makes me believe MTV would have shown it to us.

I'm starting to wonder why they every bothered associating this show with a sorority. All it is is a single-sex real world type deal. It shows nothing what it is like to be in a sorority. If a pledge slapped another pledge, that would be a call for a standards board to handle. Physical abuse is never tolerated.
Also, in our house, if a sister/pledge cuts you off from drinking or tells you to settle down if you're crazy on the dance floor or whatnot, you listen or it is cause for disciplinary action. Obviously if you're behaving in such a way that someone's going to tell you to settle down, you're making an ass out of yourself and it's for your own good. And being a "cockblock" is common for sorority members. Preventing sisters from hooking up with some guy they'll regret is one of the best things. Our sisters look out for one another, thus why I believe that sorority members probably have a lower incidence rate of rape than non-sorority members. We have vows and promises to each other that are solidified through the sorority bonds that other friends don't necessarily have.
