Actually, Mexico needs to tie to secure a spot in the next round. IF Mexico loses:
-Croatia loses (not likely)= Mexico qualifies
-Croatia wins (most likely)= It will boil down to the goal differential
Of course, that's only IF Mexico loses, which according to the history behind Mexico vs Italy, usually seems to happen. Oh well, I'll be rooting for my Mexican team.
My concern is that if they qualify for the next round, they might have to go up against the U.S.! Torn between to loves!
Oh well, I have to go to sleep now because it's 11:50pm where I'm at and the Mexico vs Italy game will be airing live at 4am! I need a nap before watching the game

What is this? Did all the soccer fans go to sleep or something?? :P
Sorry, NoShame_Gamma, but we have we to say ah buh-bye to team Mexico. But I'm sure there will be some nice parting gifts at the door. I'm just teasin'
At any rate, boo yyyeeaaahhh!!!!! Team USA wins their first-ever World Cup knock-out match! I dunno about Germany though - that'll be a tough match. I'm still hoping for a US vs. England final...
...with the U.S. trouncing England.

Yeah
it was an interesting match today split 70/30 in favor of team Mexico, but I was very disappointed in their sportmanship...while a great talent, Cuauhtemoc Blanco is a disgrace to the sport and should have been issued a Red Card along with Vidiro whose foul was amongst the ugliest I've seen thus far. Blanco does not deserve to play amongst more classy, smortmanlike players.
I don't mean to offend the Mexican team fans, but I detest Mexican soccer...very dirty, and very cheap, which is sad becasue they are very talented. It's been that way traditionally, and will continue that way as seen today.
What a brilliant ball by Wolf to set-up the first goal, and Donovan should have come with a diving header on his 2nd effort which he sailed high in the final quarter. How lucky was the US that the official missed O'Brien's keeper punch in the box?
Good game overall...hope you caught it.....
here's to the top 8 teams in the world in which the US is now included!

I'd like to see a strong game out of USA against Germany and Arena rested most of the great strikers like Mathis and Beasley...saving them for the next game I presume...but Germany would be a tough beat....their strikers are unparallelled right now and have been compared to Beckenbauer (nice compliment!), hope that Friedel can play like he's been playing...he's going to need a BIG game

Not entirely... Yes, they started playing extremely dirty once they lost hope (which is something they need to work on!). However, before then, it was a really good game! I just wish they were able to control their anger / frustrations.
As a Mexican, Mexico was my favorite team, now that they're out, I guess I'll be cheering for the US ( eventhough they eliminated Mex ). However, I'll also be cheering for Brasil and Italia
At this point, I'm just looking for a night of decent sleep! This schedule is killing me!

I will like to remind everyone that it's football.
Go England.
For King David and Country!!!!!!!
Good game for the US, though the fist of god seems to reap it's ugly head again. Anyhow, good look with the Germans. You're going to need some pills to stay awake. They will bore you to defeat.

Germany has had a very easy road to where they are now, and even though the states is playing steady, tight defence wins games and that's what Germany relies on.
I'm picking England to go all the way. They're steam-rolling, Brazil is coasting, which is unfortunate for the latter because they haven't had any competition to test them.
I don't know about you guys, but i can't wait for the Senegal - Turkey/Japan game, stellar...

Finals: Senegal vs US - Wouldn't that be a good one?!

S. Korea defeats ITALY!!!!
on goals in the 88 to equalise and a golden goal in the 116th just prior to a shoot-out which ITALY no doubt would have won as they have the better keeper and S.Korea proved earlier in the game that they can choke as they missed their 2nd pk of the tournament....what an interesting twist of fate! as it's the fate of italy
also, the turks beat cohost japan

The officiating in that game was horrendous. Totti should never have received the red card. This is the second game the italians lost because of one-sided refing.
