Proud Moments

WEEEELLLLL! My proudest/best moments in Delta include the following: (hey Circuit!!!!!! thats my grandbaby ya'll)

1. Becoming A Soror

2. Opening Ceremony of the National Convention

3. When my babies (Theta Alpha Chapter) won Midwest region Chapter of the year. (I am thier chapter advisor)

4. Seeing my babies of Lambda go on to work for Delta and just being a possitive role model in Delta for them.

5. Doing the work of Delta in general and touching lives.

6. Winning the National Step Show in New Orleans

7. Meeting and actually sitting down and talking with Past Presidents.

8. All the potential the sorority has to offer in the future.

Chilling with Jesse Jackson and serving as his campus guide when he ran for president.

Listening to NAACP President and great Omega Man Dr. Benjamin Hooks speak to our chapter backstage while he told us pledge stories before going on stage to speak.

Watching the neos break down in tears when they finally realize that they are truly Bruhs.

The elderly women who cried as we assisted them in throwing a 100th birthday party for a fellow nursing home resident. The way they appreciated the smallest things that we did during that service project made weeks of hell worthwhile.

Stepping in purple pantyhose
Stepping in a gold jockstrap
Stepping in a gold loincloth

The first time someone gave me something free just because I was a Que.

I am more inclined to say EEK than WOW on these especially the pantyhose. Depending on what the man looks like, my EEK might change to Oh My or Lawd Lawd Lawd or just a big ol'

Although I am Neo I do have a few touching moments. The first would be when I crossed the buring sands on April 6, 2002. Another would be the first time they refereed to me as a SOROR. And the most important was the love and support that I received from my friends. They don't know it but they gave me the strength to keep going when times were rough. One of my friends that helped support me isn't a Delta, but she still kept my spirits up (actually she is a SGRho). My other friend, 1Babygirl2000 was always there cheering in my corner, she wrote my recomendation, and was there with all smiles when I crossed (even though she was saying BOUT TIME). I also love all the love I get when meeting other Sorors and Bruhs as well as other Greeks.

Awww, thanks girl!!! You know I was behind you!!! And yes, it was ABOUT time!

Oh yeah!!!

Wow!! Soror Rae Lewis Thornton came to Fay State and spoke. I was thrilled. I even have pictures. She is a beautiful woman and a dynamic speaker.

For those who don't know....she is a Honorary member- history... (but that's not why she spoke). She is living with HIV/AIDS. If ya'll see her in Atl...go talk to her....she will keep you laughing!! She told the audience if any of them were even thinking about being in her great Sorority then they "betta" know who she is. For lack of a better phrase Soror is "off the chain!"

oo-oop!

If I can figure how I just may do that, but there is one thing that they did at the end that I would have to email that pic to you....no posting that on the public forum.

Now let's return to sharing PROUD MOMENTS that we have experienced as MEMBERS of our respective fraternities and sororities.

I am just thrilled daily at the connection with Sorors. Even little things like this morning-
driving to work(never fun) jammin to the radio, a woman on the sidewalkis trying to catch my eye. I look over and she throws me a pyramid. I throw it right back and wave. The Soror saw my Delta tag and just had to say hi. Brightened up my whole day.

I love you guys.

OOOOO-OOOOP!

Hi All!

When are you most proud of or awe struck by your sorority/fraternity? What moments or events made you say "WOW!"

Whenever I have the opportunity to attend a conference, workshop or work on a committee, I am awestruck by the caliber of women I have been blessed to associate with through my sorority. That being said, here are my most memorable moments as a Sigma.

1. Being presented with my special pearl jewelry for my induction by my folks.

2. Doing my first community service project as a Sigma.

3. Being called soror for the first time and being presented with my first dozen yellow tea roses.

4. Attending my first International Grand Basileus Reception, seeing all of the lovely royal blue and gold and hearing the loudest Eee-Yip ever at my first Boule during my first year in Sigma.

5. Meeting our International Board of Directors and prominent sorors like Cheryl Broussard, Mother Love, and Ellia English.

6. Learning about groundbreaking sisters like Soror Mercedes Diaz, the first African-American female judge ever in the state of Oregon.

7. Meeting sorors everyday who work hard for the community and accomplish great things and remain humble and kindhearted.

I had another moment yesterday.... I was doing the race for the cure in DC yesterday and I had this DST pin on my hat and I couldn't hardly walk because every few minutes in the race a soror would stop me and say hi and give a hug.

On the train back to my house there were a few Delta D.E.A.R.S. and they talked to me my entire ride back on the train and were sharing about the old times and how they were the "prettiest and smartest" girls on the yard they were humorous and knowledgeable. It was a great learning and bonding experience.
