I have a fundamental objection to putting little girls out on the street to peddle overpriced cookies "for their troop" when the troop gets at most 10% of the procedes.
When I was a girl scout, boxes cost $2.50 for about 10 cookies. Our troop got about .25 per box. My mom knew better than to let me go door to door, but some parents sent their 7, 8, 10 year old girls door to door for that kind of pocket change.
I'm sure that somewhere, there is an old man or woman that is getting very very rich by taking advantage of these girls, who just want to help their troop by selling cookies. Instead, though, they are lining the pockets of someone essentially utilizing sweat-shop type labor. It makes me sick just to think about it.
