There's a certain threshold for buying media in which it makes more sense from an efficiency standpoint to just buy spots nationally instead of buying spots in the markets where you have stores. We did that exercise with one of my clients and we actually went the other way with the buy (they were buying their TV nationally and even though they were sold nationally, it made sense to just go after 30+ big markets that they identified as key sales markets).

/swerve, back to annoying ads

Agree with so many of these. If I hear the Toaster Strudel boy pronounce "gooey" "go-ee" instead of "goo-ee" one more time, I will scream!

This is what I thought might be the case. They've been airing for several years, and I'm not seeing any signs of restaurants opening.

I am guessing that's why we probably get Rite Aid ads on the TV and radio here in Chicago, even though the closest Rite Aid is 77 miles away - in Michigan.

Sonic ads were also on the air here for years before any of them opened around here.

I HAAAAAAAAATE the sound of chewing, smacking, gulping, slurping, sucking, swallowing, crunching, et cetera. I have dumped perfectly nice men for chewing too loud. I have moved offices to get away from a loud gum-chewer.

So, any commercial with audible eating noises is tied for my least favorite.

The Kit Kat commercials with people crunching and smacking to the beat of the Kit Kat jingle seriously enrage me so much I have to change the channel.

There also are an INORDINATE number of cereal commercials that involve smacking and crunching. Gaaaaaaaahhh!!!!!! We get it! It's a commercial for food! MUST the soundtrack consist of noises we spend YEARS training our children not to make?!

The pig commercials are annoying but the only ones that truly enraged me were the old sexist Axe commercials. This one seems to be the one that killed them off.

Haribo Gold Bears commercials suck.

I'm glad they stopped highlighting the Black girl's stereotypical "soul sista" voice.

Sleep Country USA

Ok to start off, i'm not sure what other states Sleep Country is in, but I can guarantee everybody with a TV in the state of Washington knows the slogan to Sleep Country and it's ALWAYS on the radio and always on TV.

"SLEEP COUNTRY USA! Why buy a mattress anyyyyy-where else?! ding!"

I see or hear this commercial at least 8 times a day when driving or watching TV.

And funny story, I actually met the founder and CEO of the company on a field trip in high school. I will never forget her because she was the keynote speaker for a conference we went to and she was suppose to inspire us to do great things, but all she did was brag about her accomplishments and how she's traveled to every single continent twice. Literally an hour of her talking about alll the things she's done and at the end saying something like "I got to do all of that stuff! Follow your dreams!" I was so mad then because we were told it was gonna be inspirational, but there's nothing inspiring about a braggart.

sorry for the Throwback Thursday rant lol. Maybe I just don't like the commercial because it reminds me of her...

Blu electronic cigarettes.

His facial expressions are dumb. The slow motion smoking and walking are dumb. The "this country was founded" speech is dumb.

-Anything GEICO
-Burger King, with the crazy, out-sized cranium of the Burger King
-Sonic (not so much that they're bad, just tired, played out)

For the new Burger King commercial, he just looks Creepy. I mean Ronald McDonald is at least *capable* of assuming other facial expressions...

Right! I mean, I'm a grown man and I wouldn't want to run up on that dude. How is a kid supposed to work on his little happy meal with that kind of mascot intimidation going on? lol

The kid on that Kars For Kids ad sounds like someone is holding a gun to his head as he sings.
