I would love that if her voice didn't kill me. I cringed the entire red carpet.

Her voice really makes me cringed. She got a great voice, but I really get annoyed every time she speaks.

I'm not a Kristen Chenowith fan. If we were sending suggestions for future hosts, I would vote for Queen Latifah. I know a lot of people weren't thrilled with Seth MacFarlane, but I think he did pretty much what I was expecting from him, and you either like him or you don't.
I feel like this year's Oscars will forever be known as "the year Ben Affleck should have won best director, but didn't even get nominated." The show was good, overall, I thought. I went 13 out of 24 on my predictions. I got a lot of the "major" categories right, but bombed out on most of the documentary, short films, sound mixing type of stuff. And Amour winning Best Foreign Film, who could have seen that coming? I kid, I kid.
There were just so many good movies that came out over the past year. I would have liked to see Moonrise Kingdom get more nominations, but it sort of slipped through the cracks.

I was at a watch party, so I'm late inserting my 2 cents. And I'm sure everyone has been holding their collective breath.
I like Kristen Chenowith but she is too short to do these kinds of interviews. Women don't look attractive with their heads tilted down that far. And whatshername with the slit eyes and the always ready to flop over from being drunk really wasn't gonna make it through that interview well.
I though Seth McFarlane did great. "We Saw Your Boobs" was worth the cost of admission alone.
I thought most of the dresses were beautiful and (relatively speaking) understated this year. I loved that Helen Hunt wore off the rack. I thought Anne Hathaway's dress was too pale for her. If it was a bit deeper shade of pink it may have really been something. Queen Latifah looked amazing and is proof yet again that you don't have to be a stick to look elegant in a ball gown. And yes, I'd be all in with her hosting a red carpet show. But I'd be all in with her doing just about anything. I think she's charming and talented and always seems to be graceful under pressure. Adele definitely redeemed herself this time. She can't have lost THAT much weight in 2 weeks, so it has to show how dressing correctly can make all the difference. It didn't have to be black, but at least it wasn't red and black velvet curtains.
Not digging the facial hair on the guys. My list of 5 only consists of 2, and George could be at risk of losing his spot if he doesn't get rid of that old man beard.
Final note, there were a couple guys there who stood out (to me) as having age appropriate wives. At first glance I thought "wow, his wife looks OLD." Then I realized, no, his wife is the same age as him! We're just not used to seeing that.

Beards were the in thing this year apparently, and I hope that trend does not continue to the real world!
I feel like it might be time for Jimmy Kimmel or Conan to host--I know Jon Stewart did several years ago, but I don't remember it. Seth was as expected (and funny), but I felt like he was a little bit trashy for the Oscars. I watch the Oscars to see couture gowns and amazing films...not for Family Guy.

I didn't think it was very good this year. I did enjoy the Academy Awards this year though.

I'm more or less with you. His humor is the same as his shows which have been around for over ten years (aka it's been done! ugh). I felt like he could have stepped up a bit more. Some of his jokes really did fall flat, more than usual in award shows. It felt more like the writers weren't doing anything new and he was just delivering without necessarily caring. Trashy is exactly the word I would have used.
Kimmel, Colbert, people like that maybe? I just sat there all night and wished Tina Fey was hosting again.

The Oscars and the Academy Awards are the same thing.
Thought Seth McFarlane was a dud, but then I'm not a fan to begin with. I found it way too easy to change the channel this year.

My boss mentioned Colbert today--only if he does it in character! Tina Fey and Amy Poehler together would be epic, they were hilarious when they hosted the Golden Globes

I love Anne Hathaway. So classy.
I felt bad for poor Jennifer Lawrence, but she looked gorgeous!

The reaction was pretaped. Or she (and Lawrence and Watts) changed dresses and hairstyles for a few minutes.
All in all I thought Seth did great. First time in a decade I didn't want to change channels after a few minutes. But I get why some people don't like him.
