This has been a battle among my siblings, parents, and me forever. LOL. The family members who believe Marvel is better are obviously the coolest family members. I believe my Significant Other prefers DC which shows a total lack of comic book awareness. X-Men, in and of itself, kicks DC's ass.

I like your SO more and more all the time.
I never liked Marvel as a kid, and I've never really liked it since. None of the Marvel superheros ever appealed to me, and I didn't like the stories as much. X-Men never hooked me at all -- couldn't care less about them.
I read something once where the author compared Marvel and DC to mythologies -- DC is Greek mythology and Marvel is Norse mythology. The central ethos of DC, he said, is that you (the superhero) have a responsiblity to yourself and society, to you'd better be ready for it and face it. The Marvel ethos, by contrast, is that you'd better be ready because lots of undeserved things beyond your control are going to happen to you. DC is about the virtues and flaws of extraordinary people, while Marvel is about the personal dramas of ordinary people in extraordinary situations.
I think there's some truth to that.
And I always liked Greek mythology better than Norse.

Reading this was like watching Halle Berry as Catwoman.
Because it was like a Wayans Brothers parody:

Don't blame me because you were the lone request for Halle Berry to play Catwoman. LOL.

While I normally do agree that Marvel is far superior to DC, I do like Batman. Probably because he is so different from the rest of the DC universe. Normal person with quite a few personal demons. Unlike the overgrown Boyscout that is Superman. I was happy when he died.

I would be, but I was iffy about Heath Ledger as the joker and look how that turned out...I got faith in my boy Nolan. When he releases a bad movie or casts a role incorrectly then we'll talk. I'm just assuming she'll blow it out of the water.

Twix and scones may break my bones . . . .
I'm not the reason they hired her. I've actually never seen Halle Berry's Catwoman. I knew it would be awful, despite the sight of Halle Berry in a cat suit.
And k_s, because I've never seen it, and because it's you , I didn't know if you were serious, half-serious or not. But I am serious about Julie Newmar, and I will make no apologies for it. Awesomest. Catwoman. Ever.
You can keep your dang cookies, Dr.Phlounce.

I thought his version of Batman was awful. I mean, whenever he would change into Batman, his voice would change. That was so fake to me, and the lame lisp didn't help either. He talked like a demon possessed Cindy Brady.
|
LOL I didn't notice any lisp, but I wasn't paying any attention to that if there was one.

I don't know Doc, DC has some really good story lines. I can use Lex Luthor and Batman alone as pure examples of two DC characters that I don't think Marvel can get with.

If you had seen it you would know KS was joking. LOL. Only about 2 people in the world have seen it in its entirety.

@ Cen1aur1963: DC does have good story lines. I do not dislike DC Comics. I simply know that Marvel is better. MUCH. BETTER.
