If Tadd wins, I'm never watching this show again. He FINALLY did a dance outside of his own style tonight, and even though they clearly dumbed it down for him, he still sucked. The only reason he's still in this competition is because girls think he's cute.
Now, that being said, I love Marco, but I don't think he'll win. Sasha is my favorite going into tomorrow night.
ETA: that stepping routine was awful, and I'm surprised Mary liked it and that no one ripped them apart because of it

The finale was just bad, bad, bad. Boring dances, outdated music, biased critique, and Katie Holmes?!?!?!
SMH at the whole debacle...

Katie Holmes was useless.
I just watched the re-cap of the whole show, and it really was horrible.
Regarding the music - in the very first routine (disco), I kept saying "why is this music so slow?!" The dance was fast; the music, boring.
It didn't get much better as the show went on.

I'm going to have to completely disagree: Tadd has danced in his style the LEAST of any contender. He is a b-boy, which is NOT hip hop and he only danced hip hop a handful of times throughout the season.
I believe he only danced in his style...once. He's danced a number of ballroom routines, contemporary, jazz, Broadway, etc. If anyone coasted through, resting on their laurels--it would be (I'm going to catch flack for this) Melanie--she danced contemporary almost every week--throwing in a lyrical hip hop or two. I think Melanie is a gorgeous dancer, but she lucked out on her styles of dance.
I do not think Tadd is the best dancer, I want Sasha to win, however, I don't think he's had an easy ride and I DO think he's a very strong dancer.
I do agree...the finale bored me.

Ok, so Tadd hasn't danced his EXACT style.. but name one dance that he did (besides the cha cha tonight) where he didn't do some trick he's always done.. or simply slide across the floor on his knee/side of his leg.. or do anything besides hold the girl up while she danced circles around him. He wasn't truly challenged at all throughout the entire season.
And let's face it, you look at the stepping routine that him and Marco did tonight, and you look at the one that Kent did with Twitch last season.. and you look at the hip hop routine that him and Joshua (was that his name?) did tonight, and you look at the one that Alex Wong did with Twitch (yes, Twitch again) last season.. and can you really say that Tadd has grown at all? I'm really not sure how he's made it this far.
I do agree with you about Melanie.. I would have liked to see a tango, or Bollywood, or anything else completely outside of her element this season.. and we just didn't see it. I will agree with you on that one, which is why I don't think she should win.
Go Sasha!

The Viennese Waltz he did with Jordan in week 2.

I'm not a Tadd fan or anything, but he has been challenged.

I just have a sweet spot for b-boys because it REALLY is different than hip hop--I've been dancing hip hop practically my whole life and most b-boys brains' aren't wired to pick up choreo, but people automatically assume that hip hop is their thing.
And--very few of the dancers on SYTYCD could even attempt a b-boy routine, but b-boys are required to try all of the other styles.
As far as comparing his stepping--I wasn't a fan of the stepping tonight--but it was a different style of stepping than Kent & Twitch--as well as the hip hop was a very different style than Alex & Twitch--but come on, Alex & Twitch's routine was one of the best in SYTYCD history--we can't compare every hip hop to that one or every routine will be well...poop. I LOVED Tadd & Joshua tonight though...they performed a grittier hip hop than is usually done on the show...one that focused on just dance & not a "theme" or "story."
BUT--I see what you're saying.
Also...I'm a sucker for personalities (I don't vote based on them, but I enjoy watching them) and I didn't see as much this season. I think the dancing was stellar, but last season just had so many personalities that it was fun to watch all the packages and to see how they interracted.

But I also think that pretty much anyone can be taught to dance the cha cha, or a waltz, or a hip-hop routine. They might not do it well, but its possible. However, some of the tricks b-boys do, some people probably couldn't do in their lifetime, even if they practiced every day. You can't throw a dance like that into a show like this.
I give him credit for what he does, but he's just not good enough to win the whole thing.

I'm only saying that I remember these unbelievable dances from other seasons.. Ones that had you standing up and cheering, and others that were so emotional you wanted to cry.. And I can't think of a dance the whole season where Tadd made me do either.

This I can definitely agree with. Tadd is virtually silent, Sasha just says thank you over and over, Melanie smiles so much and so hard that I'm surprised her face isn't stuck like that, and Marco loves his mom.
The end.

I tivo'd it and fastforwarded through all the talk (or almost all). Even just watching the dances was so boring and ugh.

This season seemed to want to type cast the dancers. "This is the warrior" "This is the contemporary" "This is the b-boy". We get it. We got it five episodes ago.
One thing to notice with the dancing: Melanie dances from her head. SHe is technical. Not as much a full bodied performer. I figured she would be in the top four because her technique is great, but I don't think she is a great performer.
Team Marco or Sasha.

I will admit, I was cheering for Melanie. I am slightly biased, however. I have went to the same school as her from kindergarten to 12th grade. We were in Girl Scouts together at one point (we both ended up leaving to pursue our interests in the arts). We were even on the fifth grade step team together! Ever since elementary school, everyone has known she was destined for greatness. On top of that, she is one the sweetest people I have ever met. Everyone in the school loved her.
And as for technique... if she dances from her head then now I know a reason I like her style. I like very heady performances (they remind me of my high school's marching performances). And though I know little about dance, I felt I connected with her performances more.
To each his or her own! They were all amazing. If only I could dance at about half their level...

It's sounds weird but this is honestly a show where it doesn't matter if you win or lose, making it to the finale is the biggest prize (you're seen the most) and all of them will work.
This season was strong but because we didn't see their personalities as much...I just didn't connect on the emotional level I usually do.
The true superstar of this season?
Sonya Tayeh.
(& Travis Wall because when he choreographs, I just die)

Ditto!
In years past, I have been back and forth about Sonya.. One week I'd love her choreography, and the next, not so much. But this season (except for, I think maybe one dance), I've loved everything she's done. And I'm so glad they did the Geisha dance last night. It's probably my favorite group performance of any season.
Travis is unbelievable. I actually commented to a friend the other day that he's seemed absent from the show recently, though. Unless I missed something? But I'd guess he's working on something else.
But every time Cat says, "..a blah blah blah routine by Travis Wall..," I think to myself "YEEEESSSSS!!"

She was just phenomenal this season! However, I've always been a pretty loyal Sonya fan, simply because I love off-the-wall choreography.
Speaking of off-the-Wall...Lord Bless Travis Wall. I feel the same way! If Travis is involved, I already know I like it. Last season there were three instances in which my life was made:
Kent & Lauren are dancing with all stars Mark & Kathryn...choreographed by Travis Wall.
Kent & Lauren are dancing together...choreographed by Travis Wall.
Kent is dancing with all star Neil...choreographed by Travis Wall. (The three of them looked like adorable dancing brothers)
...Travis blows my mind when he choreographs. He literally transports me to whatever world he wants me to be in.
This season...I never like Caitlin or Mitchell..until they did the 70s rock star (piece of my heart) Travis Wall piece. Which is one of my favorites.
GAH! Travis.
