Group D
I wasn't sure what to expect from Group D because again I was not very familiar with the group as a whole. There wasn't a D at my school and there is only one D in the State at a smaller school. The woman who did the bulk of the presentation was very articulate and I could tell she was very comfortable with her role. This group also brought along the President as well as a LC who would be graduating this year and starting her work next fall and a current Chapter member from a Chapter that had colonized within the last 5 years. Both girls were darling and very good at addressing a group for being so young. The presentation went pretty much like the rest of them with the only difference being video clips that had current members telling us what D meant to them. This would have been more effective in my opinion had the sound been better. It was hard to hear. This group has a large alumni base in the area and had over 50 women who were willing to take on an Advisor role. The presentation was more business like then some of the other presentations. The other thing this group did was to let the collegians know that the LC that was present would be the LC for the said Chapter if they got the nod to colonize. The LC was very good at working the room and a lot of the girls spoke with her prior to the presentation and I think that give them a good feel for the group. I didn't hurt that the LC looked like so many of them. I thought it was very smart marketing. Group D had the BEST branding I have ever seen. Totally top shelf and cute. Worlds above every thing else any other group gave us. It is so incredible that I'm sending the package on to our Nationals. Beautifully done, girly, and very expensive looking- think the nicest wedding invitation you have ever seen. This group certainly seems to know how to market themselves and put on a very nice presentation.

Post presentation:
It is very interesting when you get a group of girls in a room that have seen the same 4 presentations you have and what pieces and parts they remember. All the Advisors had been to all 4 presentations and had written extensive notes about each group. Group B we all agreed pretty early on wasn't going to be a good fit. Although, there was a lot of discussion about whether their philanthropy might in fact be good for the greek community. Group A had a lot of support in the room from the get go. There was a little more discussion on Group C and D. I really like both groups, but they both had a very different feel to them. I thought group C had a really nice vibe to it and the women were so warm and down to earth. Group D for me was a little more business like and I didn't get that warm and fuzzy feeling from them. Honestly, I don't think we could have gone wrong with any of the groups. They all had positive things to offer to the greek community. We discussed for a couple of hours and then had our 2 groups picked........ A and D. We then needed to decide which one would come on in 2012 and which would come on in 2016. I'm happy to report that Sigma Kappa will recolonize their Chapter in the spring of 2012 and Alpha Omicron Pi will colonize at Arizona State University in 2016!

Yay! Sigma Kappa's coming back to ASU! I was hoping that was the campus you were writing about. It's the Theta Omicron chapter and was only there for a short time, but glad they are returning.

Woohoo!! I'm so excited! Wish I didn't have to wait until 2016, but I'll take it! Congrats to Sigma K for the 2014 slot. I wanted an AOII/AXiD extension for me and AZ-Alpha Xi, but this is good.

Thanks for sharing your experience; I was so nervous and now I can say congratulations to Sigma Kappa and to Alpha Omicron Pi!
ASU currently has 12 active chapters and if all goes well, that number will swell to 15 in 2016. UofA has 11 chapters, and I so wish we could expand. Sigh.

Didn't UA add a chapter recently (like in the past 3-5 years?) Or am I confusing it with ASU? I thought UA added ADPi in the recent past.

We actually lost KD this fall so we are back to 11. SK will bring us to 12 in 2012 and then KD will come back on in 2014 we should end up with 14 in 2016.

Yes, you have a great memory and I do not. It's been a week of depositions and hearings and I'm pretty tired. I didn't make any of the messes, I just witnessed a bunch of unpleasantries.
ADPi recolonized year before last. AXO went off at about the same time. Still and all, we're "bursting" - 1200 pnms the past few years, 70+ new members in the past few years. The system could accomodate more chapters, it's housing that is the sticking point.
ETA: man! you guys (AOIIAngel & AXOrushadvisor) are not letting me feel sorry for myself at all tonight! Dang. It's that Phoenix-Tucson rivalry, isn't it? And I miscounted on IrishPipes' thread. I'm stepping away from the keyboard, NOW!
ETA: here's what IrishPipes has listed for ASU:
Arizona State University Tempe, AZ: September 2011
Quota=
Campus Total=125
Quota last year=60

If you don't want to tell us this, I completely understand, but I have to ask...
Who is Sorority C?

I'm glad to know this is the personality we present. We may not win all of them, but it seems true to our nature.

Congratulations to both organizations.
I'm a little sad that AXiD didn't get the invite. I'm an alum from the area and would have love to work with a new chapter.

I'll talk about mine:
For a long time, I had a really tough time getting behind the Houston Texans. I mean sure, they replaced the Oilers but they were an expansion team.
Eventually I accepted them.

One of the questions asked was "what will you do different this time" They have a very good plan in place where a LC will live with them for 3 years. If they have any of the same people on their expansion team that deal with U of A they should understand what it is going to take to be successful. That is going to be critical for any group coming on campus. ASU is a whole other beast when it comes to sorority recruitment.
