I don't either...it's unfortunate. Maybe it's for drinking leading up to the shooting? (Total and complete speculation on my part, since they were drinking and I can't imagine how the chapter is responsible for what he did unless they all knew he kept a loaded gun in his room...which I doubt.) I really do feel sorry for everyone involved as well as their families.

Having firearms on chapter property is a direct violation of FIPG Policy. It sucks, and it's doesn't seem fair, but the chapter is responsible for upholding FIPG.
It's important to remember that suspension does not mean the same thing for all organizations, so it might not be as bad as it sounds for the chapter.

Very, very sad. I have a friend who was one of Ashley's teachers in high school at SJCD. Her identical twin sister is also a member of the Chapter and the young man "was" her boyfriend.
Late night/early morning and alcohol was involved which always creates a lapse in judgment. There was also an agreement all residents of Greek housing must sign which forbids firearms. The young man had no prior history of being a bad actor in any way. But his life is permanently changed.
As an FSU graduate, my heart is hurting for the parents and for her sister.
I also feel very bad for the Chi Omega Chapter, one of FSU's oldest and always a house full of terrific young women. Remember that this chapter has seen tragedy before - in the person of one Ted Bundy, back in 1979.
Keep Ashley and her family in your prayers.

How tragic. An identical twin losing her twin so suddenly is so sad. Having lived with identical twins, I cannot imagine either of them handling that very well, and they were living with me at separate times. What a close bond they share. My heart goes out to her sister. I hope that these are not ZTA72's daughters. That would make this too close to home!

Is ZTA72's husband a dentist, by chance? Their father is a dentist.
