short? This is such a regional thing. Out here, most of those hemlines are on the long side.
And, as an old woman who hearkens from the day of the micro mini: To sit down carefully rotate the hip slightly (left or to the right), lower yourself and sit. Except for Chelsea Handler (and a few guests) do not cross the leg at the knee. Rather cross at the ankle which also helps to prevent varicose veins.
Keep those knees together at all times. To stand up, one foot slightly in front of the other: elevate.
Back in the day we wore skirts just south of the border, so to speak. Never would now, but DD does.
Back to the gorgeous Georgia girls.

Round Three is over and heard from Daughter whose voice is a bit hoarse. I have tried not to 'grill' her everyday, so info has been sparse, but she seemed like she wanted to talk it out today. She and her roommate, who is also going through recruitment, both enjoyed today's visits but felt more nervous than previous days. Daughter felt like she was 'awkward' in conversation with the Magnolias, her first house of the day, because she was so nervous after seeing all of the upset PNMs with heavy cuts of the morning. I think they feel the stakes going up and really want to be asked back to those favorite houses. Even though they both had really full event schedules they both are worried about not being asked back, so I tried to gently remind them how good things were going so far. Then the conversation took a lighter turn with Daughter talking about all the yummy food and how the food had changed from paper napkins and ice water to fruit smoothies in beautiful glasses and shakes from the Varsity! (She also mentioned a poor PNM spilling a red fruit drink on the light carpet at one house. Daughter felt sooo bad for the girl.) We also had a laugh about her 'duck and cover' during the tornado siren yesterday and how she had managed to still get invited back to that house. One of the things she told was a bit bothersome...she had a friend's mom who had written one of her recs texting her, which I'm sure the mom did to encourage and support Daughter, but which actually made Daughter more nervous and also made Daughter feel bad when she had to tell the mom that she had been cut from that house this morning . Daughter said she has one top favorite, still the Lilies, but also very much likes 4 others, Magnolias, Jasmine, Buttercups, and Daffodils, but still doesn't feel much rapport with the Snapdragons. Her 3 selections for Preference Round are Lilies, Magnolias, and the Buttercups. Tomorrow morning they are happy to be sleeping in an extra hour and don't have to meet their Gamma Chis until 7:15 instead of the usual 6:00am. (I doubt this means any extra sleep for mom, I will probably be tossing and turning hearing a phantom cell phone buzz, ha!)

That is still sooooooo early!!! I wouldn't be able to do it! More power to the UGA pnms, I hope they feel rested tomorrow after "sleeping in"!

Exciting! Georgia recruitment is HUGE!
Along with the hemlines, I never expected to see so much, strapless-ness at SEC recruitment. But then again I've never experienced a Georgia summer, so a nice cardigan would probably be UNTHINKABLE.

Preference Round
Happy Daughter this morning... For Preference Round she will be going back to the Lilies, Magnolias and the Buttercups, all three of her selections! It will be really interesting to see what she thinks after Prefs because the Lilies have been her favorite from the start of recruitment, but she really likes those Magnolias and Buttercups now, too. She is a lucky girl to have 3 great choices at this point. (Her mom thinks the houses are lucky too!)

Okay, judging by the rain jackets and umbrellas in evidence in the photos, the PNMs are now dealing with some rain....so we've had record heat indexes, thunderstorms, tornado warnings, and finally rain. These girls can handle anything!

Wow, I guess we can safely add UGA to the list of schools where a black dress for pref is de rigeur. It's kind of a shame from this spectator's perspective -- I enjoyed all the colors from Skit Day.
