Facebook is watching you all over the web...

I have about half a dozen people on GC as facebook friends, so far. Tonight, out of boredom I'm visiting many profiles on my friends list, including GC peeps. The little box that says "friends" with the six thumbnail pics...I see 4-6 pics of people that I know from GC, WHO I HAVE NOT ADDED AS FRIENDS YET. I'm not crazy, I still remember the names and faces of many GC members from past threads, livejournal, the yahoo GC photo album.

FB was doing weird things this weekend apparently - one of my friends said that NONE of her friends were showing up.

I'm not surprised. I've noticed now that anytime I go to Pandora to listen to music, it now tells me which FaceBook friend likes particular song or artist.

Not sure how this happened since I am not "friends"/"fan" of Pandora on FB and Ive NEVER click any of there 'like' ads or anything.

I'm seriously considering deleting my FB account. I don't check it very often anyway. I just want to keep up with friends I rarely see; I really don't want to see umpteen hundred messages about Farmville or who wants to give me something or what cause someone wants me to support.

I'm with others -- FB just keeps getting creepier and less useful.

Has anyone else noticed that you can't make your favorite quotes private? A friend pointed that out the other day.

So basically, I have to take time every so often and search FB to see if people I don't want to see *anything* about me have joined, and block them, because you can't hide everything. Fan-tastic.

You can hide the Farmville stuff - when it comes up just click "hide" on the right and it will ask whether you want to hide Farmville or the person. You can also block applications like causes.

Done that, but they keep coming back after awhile. It's just like the privacy stuff -- they don't want you to block those things so they keep changing it so that your blocks stop working and you have to do it all over again.

Like I said, all I want FB for is to keep up with some old friends, and I become more and more disenchanted with it as a helpful way of doing that.

Really? I blocked it once and haven't seen it since. It may be a Farmville imitator. But you should only have to block an app once.

ETA: So I just went to do this, and when you click edit for your interests, movies, and whatnot you can drag each item to the bottom of that category and a message comes up that says "Drag here to Hide". So hopefully they remain hidden to everyone else and not just to me.

ETA 2: Nevermind. Anyone can just click the "Show" button after you do this and see everything again. Just delete your fan pages.

This is what I did as well. Ha ha on you, Facebook.

Basically if you want to make a page for anything...DON'T make a page...make a group. That way people can join it and not worry about it showing up in their stuff.

Off to make quotations private...

ETA: Huh. I just went to privatize my quotations and they were already private. OMGWTFBBQ FACEBOOK IS READING MY MIND!! Time to put on my tinfoil hat.

maybe a confirmation that Facebook really is sharing your personal info would cause an increase.
