I can't tell what's going on in their heads about Russell - do they know he's tribal cancer or has he really succeeded in pulling the wool over their eyes? I'm torn between wanting them to win the next immunity challenge so they're spared from the next tribal council and wanting them to lose the next immunity challenge so they can get rid of Russell. For whatever reason, they seem to be unaware of his tactics (go figure), so I'm afraid they wouldn't think to vote him off. This tribe has some seemingly smart people on it - why can't they see what's going on?

You know, there have been many unlikeable contestants throughout Survivor's history. Typically, those people were obviously disliked by the tribe (in addition to the viewers). This is the first time I recall really disliking one of the contestants while the tribe seems/acts unaware of how unlikeable that contestant is. Why can't they see this? They live with the guy! I'm truly puzzled by this.
I truly think that Russell has everyone thinking that he's a good guy. Honestly, when does he say things like "the dumb girl alliance" and "these people believe anything I say"?... it's only when he's in front of the camera by himself. Every other time, he seems like any other person, strategizing just like everyone else. I trust that eventually they'll see what he's trying to do, but right now, I think everyone's simply focused on winning immunity challenges, and they're voting off people who are keeping them from doing so.

Which is why I was kind of puzzled by the vote tonight. I guess because Galu hasn't had to vote anyone off up until tonight, they were back and forth as to whether or not to vote off the person who was stronger in challenges, or the person who contributed more at camp. Plus, friendships have been formed this far into the game, so I think them voting off Yasmin wasn't TOO surprising. Although, I would have liked to see them vote off Monica first (which would have been the smarter thing to do).

Btw... I hate how Survivor sometimes makes it obvious as to which tribe is going to tribal council. We haven't seen much of Galu in the first few episodes, then all of a sudden they were the main tribe shown in the first half of the episode tonight, and they were talking about who they might vote off if they had to go to tribal council. It takes the suspense out of the whole thing.

No kidding. At least we finally got to see that there is another tribe

I know - this was week 4, and as I was watching the credits, about 3 people's names on Galu rang a bell (Russell, Shambo, Yaz) - everyone else was like "who is that??".

Do any of you read Jeff's blog? I really get a kick out of it!

Here's an interesting excerpt from his most recent blog:

"NEXT TIME ON…SURVIVOR for real
Next week’s episode features one of the scariest moments I’ve had in my entire run on Survivor. Check that – the scariest. I’m not trying to over hype. I’m just giving you a tease. I don’t want you to get your expectations so high that you’re let down, but I am going to be honest that for a few seconds during next week’s episode I was really worried we were in danger of losing a contestant… forever."

Not necessarily a major spoiler, since it's a CBS preview -- it just showed more than the preview after Thursday's episode did. Based on the preview, I had the "contestant down" narrowed down to 3 people. I was right.

Meanwhile, Russel (good Russell) needs to stop sending Shambo to Foa Foa. She's already an outsider on Galu. Why keep giving her opportunities to form alliances with Foa Foa?

Exactly my thought. Galu already has a huge advantage in the numbers game, and now he's basically saying, "Here, if she makes it to the merge, have another person."

I don't know why he wouldn't send someone who clearly has ties to his own tribe, who would actually go over there looking for information/their weaknesses/the hidden immunity idol.

Or at least not read the immunity idol clue to THE ENTIRE TRIBE.

I meant that in the "Consider-this-your-warning:If-you-don't-want-to-know-what-happens-to-whom-then-don't-click-here" kind of way. Not the "I've-got-a huge-secret-that-no-one-else-has" way.

Gotcha. BTW, that teaser was on CBS last night during Big Bang Theory.

I'm so torn on what to do this Thursday!!

I normally cut out of church Choir early and go home and watch Survivor (they're working on the Cantata - and since I'm in the "pit" for the cantata, I don't really need to learn the soprano part) but this week we're practicing Mighty Fortress (Lutheran Nation Anthem - it's Reformation Sunday!) and I'm playing the trumpet for it (attempting to play, at least, I'm a flautist). So I really should stay and catch up with this Ep later on the web, but it looks so exciting!

I won't be able to watch tonight, either. I'll try to record it, but one of my kids has "put away" (read: lost) the DVR remote, and I don't think we can record without it. If I can't record it, I think I should be able to watch it online... I hope I can, anyway.

Hijack: It's frustrating that gadgets are useless if their remotes are lost.

In past seasons, I've had issues with the streaming, but this season, it's been great both times I watched it. And I actually don't have a DVR.

I totally was expecting a merge with all of them sitting there. I think I would have been disappointed, though, because I really want to see FoaFoa get it together. I'm thinking that they at least win the reward challenge, because they show Russell in Galu's camp.

Or was Lauren in Foa Foa's camp?

Meanwhile, what's with Liz and what's-her-name? "We know it's one of us, so let's give up"?! How about try to get just one of the guys to vote with you? At least try!
