Red face

Thanks for all your support. It has been a roller coaster of a week. She was invieted back to two pref parties. One sorority that she loves and it has been in her top all week and one that has been in the bottom all week. She planned on cutting it but did not have the opportunity. Now this sorority that she does not like is mine!!!! I did not expect her to bid it because I know it was not a fit for her. She will not list this sorority on her list so that means that she is going to suicide. I have told her the cons of this but in the end she says she does not to be obligated to this sorority for a year. She mentioned spring recruitment but the only ones doing spring are usually the ones that she was not crazy about. This is not a tier thing, she just did not like the girls and felt very uncomfortable with the sorority. In the end this is her decision and she seems to accept it. We are still holding out hope and saying many prayers that she will get her first and only choice. She will get a call tonight between 12 and 1 if she does not get a bid. So it will be a very long night for me. What ever happens I will be going to Baton Rouge tomorrow to celebrate or give hugs.

Thanks Just Interested. I love her so much and hate to see her hurting, but this is part of life and it won't be the last. I know that she will move on and find lots of things to enjoy if this doesn't work out.

Does anyone know how many girls are going thru recruitment this week and what quota might be? I know LSU has 11 sororities on campus.

After a long and sleepless night my daughter informs me that I was wrong about the time they would call her. It is sometime this morning. I am leaving for B.R. soon, hopefully for bid day but maybe for lots of icecream and crying.

Best of luck for a good day, tootiepie. Whatever happens, just remember she has a wonderful mom who did not force her sorority on her. I had a friend whose mom did force her sorority on her and her sister. My friend was never happy with it.

Well, the pref card is signed and today is bid day. She seriously considered dropping yesterday, but decided to go to the Pref parties. Boy, is she glad she did.

She really, really has come to love the sorority she has chosen as no. 1, even though it may not be considered one of the more "popular" sororities on campus. She loves that the girls are all so real and laid back. Said she feels like she can completely be herself with them. As I told her, things happen for a reason and if this is where she's meant to be, then it'll happen.

Now we're just sitting back and keeping our fingers crossed that she gets her no. 1 pick.

Counting the hours until 4pm today.

Tootiepie, I believe the girls get a call between 9 and 11 am, if they don't receive a bid. I hope your daughter gets what she's hoping for!!!!

I just want to give a big hug to the cool, calm, collected and caring moms in this thread. No matter how your daughters' recruitments turn out, they are lucky.

Bids have been issued. I think quota was 71. Can anyone confirm that? How did everyone do?

I just got back from.....LSU BID Day!!!!!..... She did get the bid to the sorority she loved all week. I am know the mother of a very happy Phi Mu. I got to her dorm at around 11:30. I think it was 9-12 they did calls. If not we stressed for an extra hour!!! At 12:01 we figured it was all good. She kept checking her phone for missed calls but they never came.

LSU bid day is awesome and there where so many beautiful girls up and down the row. No wonder the competition was so fierce. Just like everything else we do here it was a great party. They don't go for the facny white dresses or even sundresses. It is shorts and t-shirts and silliness all the way. What a fun way to start it all out. They ran to the houses and got lots of hugs and jumped around like kids, took tons of pics, ate lots of pink cupcakes and pink punch. Then they are going to an alums house for some kind of party tonight.

Now don't ask any questions about quota etc., I was just so glad about our 1 bid I didn't care about anything else. When I talk to her tomorrow I will try to get more info.

Thanks for all the support you gave us, it has been a very stressful week but it ended up great.
