Just remembered (thanks for the reminder, SWTXBelle!): Alpha Chi does have the lyre bird as it's official animal, and it sits on the top of our crest. However, I haven't really seen it used. Think about it- when was the last time you saw a lyre bird stuffed animal?

I don't mind not having a mascot. While having a jewel might be nice, I like that we can bling out our badges with whatever jewels we like. I l have seen pearls (mine), diamonds, turquoise, rubies, sapphires, and emeralds on different badges. Our badge unites us, but it is also fun to add our own individuality to it.
