HORRIBLE
A sister from my chapter works for the Philadelphia Eagles in the PR department. I was friends with a guy who played for the Eagles and I am from Pennsylvania. I was a BIG Eagles fan....until NOW!
I will NOT be cheering for the Eagles because whether or not people think what Vick did was okay, he is still a role model and this is just teaching people that you can be an awful human being but, still make millions of dollars a year...I realize not every celebrity is society's moral compass but, there are many great and deserving guys out there who would make the Philadelphia Eagles proud. I am appalled and will now be cheering for the Pittsburgh Steelers. I know a lot of other (former) Eagles fans who feel the same way.
I'm just shocked! I remember Drew Carey even said, in the past when this all first came out about the dog fighting, that he would not be supporting the NFL if they chose to allow him back into the NFL. You don't have to be a tree-hugging hippy to feel sorrow for those poor animals and think this man should make a living doing something that won't glorify his behavior. "It's okay to abuse and murder animals, kids...just make sure you are good at sports!" That's exactly what we are telling people.

All I can say is, I hope the Eagles have the money to pay the city for the extra police presence they will have to hire outside the stadium to control the protestors that will be outside EVERY game. I don't think they are fully aware of what they're getting into or how passionate the animal rights cause is. This doesn't even include the regular people who are sickened by what Vick did and will be voting with their wallets.

http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/htm...88_vick14.html
"When news of Vick's signing circulated in the press box during the first half of the Eagles' preseason opener against New England, even the team's public relations staff seemed surprised.
The stadium was buzzing by halftime as word spread. Fans standing on the concourse were in disbelief. One guy wondered how quickly he'd be able to buy a Vick jersey. Another asked if this was a joke."
I do stick by my original statement that I think this is a bad idea for the team that signed him. Who wants to cheer for this guy? It's hard to feel pride in an organization that brings in someone like this.

Who wants to cheer for him? The same people that feels that he has served his time and that he should be allowed to move on.

Agreed?

Ok...Now I am serious...Kobe rebounded well from bad PR and like him or hate him, he is probably better now than he was before so who is to say that Vick can't do the same? He may not command the same kind of money but he still may wind up playing ball somewhere.
If nothing else he still may wind up a social pariah similar to OJ

Kobe was accused of sexual assault, which is terrible, but he was never even tried for it - he alleged it was consentual. What Michael Vick did was, like kstar said, sociopathic. Absolutely scary, unprovoked violence, and incomprehensible in its cruelty to creatures dependent on his care. Very cold, calculated, and apparently serial in its nature. Americans own - and spoil - pets because we appreciate the comfort, joy and companionship they give us, and it is unthinkable to most that anyone would want to harm them for kicks. Michael Vick has something wrong in the head to think that torturing and killing dogs is fun. To me, Kobe has nothing on him. Vick is poison to anyone who involves themselves with him.

And you have something wrong to be a sexual predator (alleged one anyways) point is...Kobe almost got run out of the league because of it BUt because he was never brought to trial all we got was the tidbits...BUT public opinion court made him out to be a rapist for a very long time.
Vick on the other hand has served his time and paid for his crime...but public opinion court isn't done with him yet...obviously.

Dude he was never almost run out of the NBA. It was a big deal because of his high profile. The press conference with his wife and the hope diamond that he gave her didn't help.
Most people from the get go thought this was a setup. Didn't that slutbag have traces of splooge from multiple guys on her?

Hah!! Gross!!
But yes. But you know....I guess on who you talk to, the NBA is not as hard on their players when there are rules broken as the NFL is.
i fthat was the case Ron Artest and Latrell Sprewell would have been out a long time ago

There was that, and the fact that she dropped the charges in favor of settling out of court, when she originally said in her statements, "I am not after the money, I just want justice to be served." Riiight. It all just leads me to believe that there was no assault.

The only job Vick should have is working at an SPCA as a volunteer and having to scoop up dog poop....
I have no sympathy for a guy who had millions, abused dogs, was sent to prison, and now wants to make more millions...
You had your chance, you blew it!

I LOLd at the bolded. Man that was the best joke I've heard all day!
Personally, I think some people seem to forget that they are simply animals. Doesnt make it right or justify it, but some people place way too much value on animals. That may be the reason why a particular state has 4 times as many animal shelters as women's shelters. Vick financed the dog fighting. He watched dogs fight. Beyond that he has never admitted to or been convicted of actually harming dogs himself. So the calims that he needs to have done to him what he did to dogs are pointless because he didnt actually do anything to the dogs. As far as showing remorse goes, I think he's done that. He should get out of jail and play for any NFL team that wants him. (And there are some teams that could use him.) Hopefully he's been using his yard time wisely and stayed in shape.
