Just looked over the list and noticed that Jacksonville State was listed as dormant. Don't know when they recolonized but they have been open in the last at least 5 years b/c I visited there as a specialist.

Correct, they are very much an active chapter and have been as long as I can remember - as an ELC I visited there in <cough><cough> 1992.
However - it is Jacksonville University - Zeta Alpha (I assume in FLA) that is listed as dormant - and it is. Epsilon Pi (Jack State) is listed as active.

Iowa State??
Sorry to crash..
I love looking at greek history (not just SK) and I was wondering if anyone had info on why the Iowa State chapter closed? I grew up in MN and had two friends who were DDD and DZs there, and when she would mention "struggling" chapters, she never mention AXD. Just curious....

Cornell?
Hey has anyone heard if Cornell is a chapter now instead of a colony? Just wondered since I couldn't find any info online.

They were still a colony at convention. I have no idea what their progress is at this point.

Hi there - I'm an alum of Epsilon Phi at Iowa State and was helping out the chapter during the time that it closed. While I was an active member of Epsilon Phi (1997-2001) the chapter continued to get smaller every year instead of bigger. From Spring 2002 to Fall 2002, the chapter decreased dramatically in size from 32 members to only 15. So, for Fall 2002 Formal Recruitment, we only had 15 members to recruit compared to other chapters who had 60 or 70 members. Basically we weren't able to compete with the larger chapters and ended up withdrawing from Recruitment. The chapter members voted a couple of days later to close the chapter at the end of the school year. It was very very sad and unfortunate, especially for those sophomore members who only had a short time to enjoy their active Alpha Xi Delta membership. It's also very sad for the hundreds of alumnae who are not able to get to know their newest chapter sisters or visit the house that holds so many memories for them.

This just came out in the Alumnae e-Newsletter from FHQ.
Cornell University Colony to be Installed
Alpha Xi Delta proudly announces the installation of the Alpha Beta Chapter at Cornell University. The installation will take place Sunday, August 28, at the Alpha Beta chapter house. Originally chartered in 1918, the return of the Alpha Beta Chapter is exciting for Alpha Xi Delta and the Cornell University community.
In keeping with Fraternity custom, National officers and volunteers, college chapters and alumnae associations and individuals should send the new chapter congratulatory messages to recognize its installation. Please send your congratulatory messages to....
I took off the address for privacy sake on this board, BUT if you check out FHQ's site (which is NOT updated yet) the news page should have the address soon.

small world-- I was talking about my daughter pledging with another teacher. She indicated that she had been in a sorority- I asked which one-- Alpha Xi Delta-- I was shocked. We had worked together for three years!!! She was an Alpha Xi at Rhode Island, but said that she had received a letter about them being removed from campus?? Any info?
