Pink and Green Tears

I cried like a baby. Then we took line pictures, chapter pictures, and more pictures for the next 2-3 hours! LOL

Let's see.... I cried, rejoiced, and praised the Lord. Some of us went to the mall to "secretly" shop for nalia. We had a get together at one of my ls's house off campus for hours until we remembered we had to go to school the next day like we didn't "know each other". The next week we had like 5 meetings. I became chapter hostess, became a member of the registration committee for the undergrad. caucus in September, and got to work on so many little projects. Whew!!!! I probably left some things out.... Oh yeah and we took more and more pictures!

I cried like a baby and hugged my LS. I cried some more when my Aunt (who is Silver Soror) pinned me and gave a beautiful letter that I treasure to this day. Then we went to out luncheon, where I cried some more. LOL. And finally home to sleep.

We didn't probate for another day or two and I was too busy trying to meet the deadline for the the campus newspaper (I was the Editor) so I didn't sleep for practicing for the probate and working on the paper. Needless to say, we probated on the 23rd and my bday was the 20th. It was a great bday present.

My ls, LitAKAtor can attest that I cried unconsolably for a minute. I cried through our entire process (but that is another story). Anyhow, cried, sang "I got my pearls" with all of the sorors. Went to our luncheon, cried some more. Did not pass go, went directly to meet my friend to show off my shiny pin. Went to buy some 'nalia. Went to the University of Tampa that night to watch our charter line come out. Had chapter meeting a week or so later and it has been mostly business ever since. I love my AKA.

ETA: I am so happy to see that most of us cried. It really peeves me now when I see some of the new members NOT crying. It just makes me feel like they don't appreciate this.

I agree w/you, Soror. I could not stop crying. I tried not to look at my line sisters, but it didn't work. I was really weeping.
Plus I had the waterworks for the 2004 line that we had and for the two lines the UG chapter we sponsor.

Sorors,

I am glad to know that I was not the only one shedding tears. I was indeed in good company.

The thought of becoming a woman of Alpha Kappa Alpha was just so amazing to me that when it sank in that that dream was finally coming to fruition, I was just overcome... and the tears were flowing.

After I stopped crying, the older and younger sorors wanted to hear me skee-weee... at first, I was scared but they coaxed me on and I let it rip! LOL

I tried my best not to let the emotions get to me, but I cried like never before when I finally became an AKA. Part was happiness and disbelief at the honor of being associated with such a group. Part was sadness because my grandmother (a Golden Soror) could not be there. So, I immediately called her on the phone and as soon as she answered, I started to sing the hymn. She started crying too. I was just overwhelmed with so much emotion. I think I cried for the next several hours. It was an experience I'll never forget.
