Honestly, when you're going by one list and manually counting chapters at every school (or at least I was), we are going to have to variations between the numbers. With as many chapters as we all have, we're bound to miss a chapter or 2 somewhere (I'm sure I probably did).

For my part, I admit that my eyes have been glazed over for the past few days. Anything math error under five is fine by me, but I'll go over it again. Maybe.

Chi Omega used to share the most campuses with Tri Delta -- not sure if that's the case today or not.

Exactly. I used irishpipes as well, but once I got towards the bottom of the list, my eyes started to glaze over! lol. So I more than likely made mistakes in counting.

ETA: At times i forgot that irishpipes would put the same campus twice (one right after the other) so I might have inadvertently counted the same chapters twice.

I used Irishpipes' list as well. I went back, made a spreadsheet and still got 35! lol.

Plus, I updated my list and my numbers still differ than everyones. Oh well...over it! lol.

OK, so you made me curious. Here are the "overlap" numbers that I got for Kappa. Like everyone else, I often vary from the other lists by one or two (I included colonies and international chapters):

Pi Beta Phi: 92
Kappa Alpha Theta: 91
Tri Delta: 84
Delta Gamma: 82
Chi Omega: 80
Alpha Chi Omega: 68
Gamma Phi Beta: 57
Kappa Delta: 57
Alpha Phi: 57
Alpha Delta Pi: 54
Zeta Tau Alpha: 34
Delta Zeta: 32
Alpha Omicron Pi: 30
Sigma Kappa: 29
Alpha Gamma Delta: 26
Alpha Epsilon Phi: 25
Phi Mu: 24
Alpha Xi Delta: 21
Sigma Delta Tau: 20
Sigma Sigma Sigma: 6
Delta Phi Epsilon: 5
Phi Sigma Sigma: 3
Alpha Sigma Alpha: 2
Theta Phi Alpha: 2
Alpha Sigma Tau: 1

The amount of work that irishpipes put into coming up with a database like that is amazing. Since it was obviously a "labor of love," I'd like to thank her belatedly for having done it. I only looked at a couple of states, but spent alot of time looking at it. Of particular interest to me are all the smaller colleges that no longer exist now. I also liked being able to see exact dates for a chapter's existence.

Thanks again for all your hard work and persistence-I'm so impressed!

Okay, I weirdly love data manipulation so I went ahead and tried it for DG. I still had to do some manual work, so there are probably still errors, but I matched dead-on with a surprising number of you all

Delta Gamma

Kappa Alpha Theta 85 (match with oldu)
Kappa Kappa Gamma 82 (match with wildcatfan)
Pi Beta Phi 81
Alpha Phi 78 (match with epchick)
Delta Delta Delta 75
Alpha Chi Omega 74 (match with violetpretty)
Chi Omega 73
Gamma Phi Beta 59
Alpha Delta Pi 52 (match with honeychile)
Kappa Delta 52
Delta Zeta 44
Zeta Tau Alpha 43
Sigma Kappa 41 (match with violetpretty)

Alpha Omicron Pi 34 (match with AOII Angel)
Alpha Gamma Delta 32
Phi Mu 31
Alpha Epsilon Phi 27
Sigma Delta Tau 26
Alpha Xi Delta 25 (match with oldu)
Phi Sigma Sigma 10
Alpha Sigma Alpha 8 (match with cuteASAbug)
Sigma Sigma Sigma 8
Delta Phi Epsilon 6
Alpha Sigma Tau 3
Theta Phi Alpha 3 (match with AnatraAmore)

Not a match:
Delta Zeta, Kappa Delta, Sigma Sigma Sigma and Phi Mu

I started doing this again last night, to catch my possible inaccuracies, and then realized why we have some different numbers: colonizations/closings. XYZ may have closed 5 chapters but are colonizing at 10 other colleges. So, if irishpipes' list doesn't reflect these changes, most of us will get different answers.

I think it's fair to say that, if the numbers are within 5, all's well. Irishpipes didn't put long hours into that list for any reason but the current Recruitment year, and we're just using it for the database which is otherwise unavailable to us. Massive kudos to irishpipes, and let's realize that there will be the small differences.

But if we are ALL using Irishpipes' list, then shouldn't our numbers still be the same? I mean we all are looking at the same list.

Like I looked at all the universities (in U.S. and Canada) that had active Alpha Phi chapters. Shouldn't my list correspond w/ everyone else if they were looking at universities w/ active chapters of their universities?

IDK (...my bff Jill? lol) how everyone is getting different numbers! lol

All by myself...

I'm finding this thread really interesting and hoping that members of the rest of the NPCs will post their numbers.

Meanwhile, I started to get curious about how many NPCs are the only one on their campus. Of course, they may be competing with locals, but I was surprised to find that there are actually 81 places where this is the case.

The winner for facing it alone on campus is:

Phi Sigma Sigma with 13 chapters.

The rest place as follows:

Theta Phi Alpha - 10
Delta Phi Epsilon - 9
Alpha Sigma Tau - 6
Delta Zeta - 6
Sigma Sigma Sigma - 6
Alpha Epsilon Phi - 5
Alpha Gamma Delta - 3
Alpha Sigma Alpha - 3
Alpha Xi Delta - 3
Alpha Delta Pi - 2
Alpha Omicron Pi - 2
Phi Mu - 2
Alpha Chi Omega - 1
Alpha Phi - 1
Delta Delta Delta - 1
Gamma Phi Beta - 1
Kappa Alpha Theta - 1
Kappa Delta - 1
Kappa Kappa Gamma - 1
Pi Beta Phi - 1
Sigma Kappa - 1
Zeta Tau Alpha - 1
Chi Omega - 0
Delta Gamma - 0
Sigma Delta Tau - 0

Why, yes, I do know how to waste time creatively!

Very interesting, Leslie Anne!

For once, this is a list I'm glad we're at the bottom!
