What if you accidently show up with Coach bag as a gift or something not on the 'preapproved' list? Is she going to turn the gift down? Seriously, this is crazy.

There are lots of times that people throw "Black and White" parties and things like that... Where everyone has to wear (you guessed it) black or white. I don't really see TOO much of a problem with something like asking them to wear a particular color.... (I DO think she could have chosen something less gaudy and tacky.)
The rest of the entire thing sickens me. It is disgusting and I think morally reprehensible.

We had our Black Diamond Ball every year, and it was always known we could wear Black and White. That doesn't make that invitation any less tacky!!

Oh, I definitely agree that the invitation is tacky!!!!! I just don't think it's all that unusual to request a certain color of dress.

I have an "honorary" Doctorate of Divinity from the Universal Life Church, but I don't run around calling myself "Dr."
I wonder if I can ask for a cream-colored Gucci handbag?
Ticky-tacky.

Hmm. I've never heard of such a thing. Maybe it's just not done around here. *shrug*
I'm contrary enough that if someone told me I had to wear cream or gold, I'd show up in fire engine red.

I think we should all send letters to her and let her know how tacky she really is. They did provide her address afterall.

Hmmm, I'm not so sure. I've looked all over there site, and I can't find where it links to the page shown. This makes me wonder if it is actually real or a hoax that someone created to embarass them.
ETA: Nevermind, I found it

Hundreds of senior pastors and their spouses flew in from across the country. All were “dressed to the nines,” and had come for one reason only—to honor and celebrate the life of one who has committed her own life to serving others—Dr. Bridget Hilliard, a true humanitarian indeed.
Update on the birthday bash!
Wow. Just wow.

HELLO tackiness! Thanks for the amusement for my in-sick Saturday night, KR.
I love how that "article" goes on and on about these charitible things this woman has done, etc. Ummm... yeah, and all that money going towards this egotistical excessive bash and requests for desginer purses and all that.... hmmmm.... ummmm... just a thought.... couldn't all that wasted money have gone to a better cause?
A true humanitarian indeed, lol

I had shown the original site to my brother, who's a pastor. He had actually met her husband on a mission trip, which meant he (my brother) was even more appalled by this hot mess!
Ironically, she has the same birthday as my evil SIL - who was probably thinking, "Why didn't I think of that first?"
