Heh, I heard it was good but I'm studying in Oxford right now. Which also means that we will likely lose the drink-off against Cal Gamma at Big Game Luncheon, since I'm using my skills to defeat St. Catherine's crew team next week...

What brings you to Oxford? Exchange program? Rhodes scholarship? How do you like it?

Overseas study program, although Stanford sent a Rhodes Scholar this year (a Theta Delta Chi no less) and I ended up walking into him on the street last week. Liking it very much, esp the nightlife, British people do think we're all crass Americans though and death comes from the right when crossing the road...

The California Iota interest group has 17 gentlemen. They will soon be inducted into colony status.

Phi Psi to issue its 147th Charter

Phi Kappa Psi will issue its 147th charter when it installs Ohio Mu,
currently a colony, at the University of Dayton on April 9! That also will
being the number of active Chapters to 92, plus five colonies.

More details about the installation and induction ceremonies will be
announced soon, according to Alec G. Traub, Phi Psi's Director of Expansion.

Meanwhile, Chapters, alumni associations, and individual Phi Psis are being
asked to consider purchasing a gift for the installation. There's a gift
list of 18 different items (and a total of 27 actual gift items) ranging in
cost from $5 to $100 each. Gifts to the new Chapter's Scholarship Fund also
are being solicited. For a list, to purchase an item or to make a
scholarship fund gift, call 1/800-486-1852 ext. 23. Checks may be sent to
Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity, 510 Lockerbie St., Indianapolis, IN 46202.

Congratulations to Colony President Tim Harbage and the other men of the
Ohio Mu Colony, Colony Advisor Michael Hauck, and all those from the
Fraternity staff and others who were involved in this Chartering effort.

Mike McCoy
Historian

Detroit_PhiPsi,

I understand your frustration with not getting a reply, however I would like to say that I have always had great relations with our National Headquarters. What information are you trying to get from Headquarters? I work pretty closely with our HQ Staff, maybe there's something I can do to help. Let me know!

my mistake

I guess my issue is what am I am expected to do. I feel like I have been cast out and when I pledged I thought it was for life. I simply need closure on this. I mean if I am not a member anymore then why did I pledge?

It's been a while

So, it's been a while since anyone's said anything...so I'll start up conversation:

Last Saturday, my chapter (Tennessee Epsilon) initiated 23 men into our Noble Fraternity. Things at TN Ep are going great right now. As many of you know, we moved into a new house a year and a half ago, and things have been great. We hope to be up around 70 or so next year this time. We did Homecoming this year with Delta Zeta and came in fourth over all. I guess, not much else is new. Just trying to spark conversation. Anyone going to Cabo soon? GAC? What's new?

ITB,

Luke...

Alabama Beta

I haven't really seen anything about this on the board, but Alabama Beta at Auburn University was rechartered May 30, 2005. They now have a house on campus, and are doing a great job of rebuilding. I've been down and visited their chapter a few times, and it's been great getting to know them. I have just recently been initiated at Alabama Alpha along with 11 other great guys and so far, it's been the most fun I've ever had. I look forward to being a part of this message board, and it's great to be able to call you guys brothers.

Unhappy Phi Psi in Mourning

Brothers:

It is with deep sadness that we share word of the passing of former SWGP Robert E. Lazzell, West Virginia Alpha ’41. The Colonel, as he has been widely known throughout the Fraternity, and his beloved West ("by God") Virginia Alpha Chapter, served as President from 1990-92, presiding at the Grand Arch Council in San Francisco in 1992. A member of the Order of the S.C., Bob was inducted in 1964 at Denver.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to his widow, Lucille, and to all his children and grandchildren, including his son, Major. Robert E. Lazzell, II, USA (West Virginia Alpha ’85). A complete obituary and remembrance will be found in the Spring Shield, and fuller details on memorial services will follow.

Therefore, in honor and remembrance of "The Colonel," Past President Robert E. Lazzell, I declare a 30-day period of mourning throughout the Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity. Accordingly, charters and other fraternal emblems in chapters across the country should be draped in mourning until December 22, 2005. A narrow band of black cloth may be hung around a framed charter; a similar black band, diagonally from upper right to lower left, may obscure the shield.

"May our great ruler in heaven ever guide us," and may Colonel Lazzell find a welcoming embrace among all the brothers in Chapter Eternal.

Fraternally yours,

James R. Blazer II
Ohio Delta 1979
President
