I'm tempted to do it as a social science experiment. I couldn't meet anyone worse than who I've met randomly. Sad thing is the last decent guy I dated (no BS, no lying, we still talk) I met in a BAR, and the guys I meet elsewhere are awful.

I'm not a member, but if I was, once I found out they started that same sex mess, I would have cancelled my account.

I've known a few couples that met through EH with mixed results. One ended up getting married. Some folks just don't have time to engage in extracurricular activities where they'd meet other people.

eHarmony's rejected millions of people. It sounds like you have to be some kind of socially retarded leper to get rejected, but it's actually somewhat common. Dating sites in general are only effective if you live in a big city, imo.

Eharmony
There's nothing better than playing the game the old fashioned way and meeting people on your own. I realize that it's difficult for career oriented folks but if you want it you can find the time.

Bumping the thread to serve as a reminder as why not to use this service. The man I was matched with and dated turned out he had lied on his profile about alot of things (education, family, I could go on). I dumped him and he still won't leave me alone. Today he showed up on my doorstep unannounced.
Avoid eharmony.

Sounds like he's on the road to a restraining order.

I wouldn't put that on eHarmony, plenty of people go cuckoo for cocoa puffs, even when you've known them for awhile before you got romantically involved. I think in general people need to be safe with personal information, even if you don't meet them on the internet.

I agree. Stories like that have been going on for decades, since long before dating sites existed. My mom had a stalker in that late 50's after she told him she didn't want to date anymore. She had to get a restraining order, even then. Sadly, there is no way to screen out crazy until you know someone, and possibly even until you dump someone.
I have a friend who was set up with a co-worker's cousin. It turned out said cousin had never gotten divorced or even physically separated even though he had told his WHOLE FAMILY that he had. Freaky.

I met my boyfriend on Plentyoffish. We've been together since summer of 2008.

I met the man I'm with on PoF. But he's starting to get on my last nerves.

I know I told this story in the D & R thread, but I got rejected from eHarmony. I think it was because of two things: 1) I wasn't ABSOLUTELY POSITIVELY SUPER DEFINITE on the kid issue 2) I said looks were very important. Of course, often my "OMG he's gorgeous" is 95% of the population's "what the hell are you thinking?", but there's no way to get that across on eHarmony.
As for PoF, one of my friends met her latest boyfriend on there. He is now her EX boyfriend and she had to change her phone number because of him.
