After what feels like a thousand years, I'm getting back in touch with Gamma Phi and making wonderful friends while I'm at it.
Collegiate chapter: Can you guess? Epsilon (Northwestern)
Major: Communications; minors in History and Computer Science
Status: Alumna, Legacy mom to 2
Crescent Catcher in training - many thanks to our LtColonelGPhiB for the instruction and guidance
Pledged Fall 1980, Initiated January 1981
Favorite GPB memories: learning to love the Crescent Moon, pink carnation and sing "Hey Daddy" from my sister, an Alpha Theta (Vanderbilt) Sister;
Hearing the singing as we approached the House during Rush - I knew all of the songs because of my sister and I immediately felt at home;
The look on the face of one of my rushees (I was a Rush Counselor 2 years) when she came to the house on Pledge night and saw me - she never had a clue!
The "Aaahhhh" factor of initiation - "I wondered about that...."
Oh! How could I forget Derby Days?! I single-handedly caught more derbies than 5 other houses combined - but then, they went to more classes than I did those days, too
Little known fact: When my husband and I got married, the Gospel we chose was the "Founded upon a Rock" one. In the nerly 7 years since, we have had rain and 2 1/2 feet of water in our basement; we have had an earthquake 3 days ago - yes, in Wisconsin!; we have had a tree fall down on the house during a storm leaving no damage (!); we have fought like only an Irish woman and an Italian man can: :0 and our "house" is still here and strong, because it was
"Founded upon a Rock."
Aside to Tina and other Epsilon sisters - please contact me - I get back to NU with the Alumni Admission Council a couple times a year, but haven't been inside 640 Emerson since probably 1986.... Sigh....
Northwestern GFB
And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. Matthew 7:25
Hail to Purple, Hail to White, Hail to Thee, Northwestern!
