Well, you know I've seen it too, 'cause I was there!

I asked Lil about it. It was a replica but it was so cool to see it. It was bigger than I thought it would be. Anyone else?

The Creed was officially adopted in 1917 but I don't know who wrote it.

Why isn't this info in the Norman Shield?

The creed was penned in 1917 by June Davis, chapter editor or Chi at the University of Denver. Ordinary Miracles, page 76

Give the name and chapter of the sister who founded her own bakery, and is now famous across the South for her orange rolls and sausage rolls. ( if you need a hint, look back at some of the old Angelos over the last year)

First one to get it right, I'll send you some of the rolls...

May I Crash?!?

OMG -- I LOVE Sister Schubert rolls!

Patricia Wood Barnes, Delta Delta-Troy. In 1989, Sister Schubert (dubbed "Sister" by a sibling) was baking her now famous rolls in the kitchen of her home for her small catering business and for friends and family using recipes belonging to her grandmother and other family members.

Darn, I missed being first. I ONLY know that from the Angelos. Thanks for that clue.

And no, I've never seen the old badge. Is it online anywhere? I heard it's simple green/silver from the GC archives, but I can't find a pic to save my life.

Never hear of Sister Schubert rolls until I went to convention in '05. We don't get them out here in Southern CA. Someday when I am in the south, I will have to try them.

Hmm, I haven't heard of Sister Schubert rolls either. I guess I haven't been thoroughly reading my issues of The Angelos. Interesting trivia, Cheryl!

KDAngel, here is a b/w photo of the original KD badge: It was silver with olive green enamel and was pretty large as sorority pins go.

I have one of those badges, but it's not large. It has a diamond on each of the points.

I'm going to my safe deposit box tomorrow, so I'll get it & take a picture of it. Thought I had one on my computer, but apparently I don't.

Hmm, Lil Leslie was wearing one and I remember it being kinda big. Maybe my brain's just fried. How did you get one!? For some reason I thought they were specially made for National Council members and past members. ??

I'm looking forward to seeing a photo of yours!

Maybe the NOs get them made, but mine is an original, from 1918.

I got it from an ebay auction, and yes, I notified KD HQ about it. They told me I had "the find of the year!" It's the badge of the first initiate of (now closed) Psi chapter.

I kept the image extra large so you could see the detail:

I was advised by pin collectors not to get the patina removed from the badge, which is why it looks dirty.

I'd love to think of some creative - and secure - way for me to wear this badge. Whenever I wear it, I'm always afraid I'm going to lose it.

Annie,

It's hard to tell from your photo, but is the enamel on your badge green? While the decoration around the edges makes it look similar to an original badge, it looks different from the one Leslie posted (hers doesn't have the dagger and AOT). Maybe yours was a "transitional" badge that bridged the gap between the one she showed us and the current badge? That would explain why Leslie remembers the badge as bigger.

Just wondering-
Sydney

Like I said, the badge was in my safe deposit box. I hadn't seen it in over a year. I couldn't remember if it had the dagger & AOT or not.

The enamel is black.

Hmm...now I'm wondering about the history of the badge's design. This badge was made just 21 years after KD was founded..

Good question to ask in the Yahoogroup! I see a few of you have replied - Karen handles most of that, so be patient!

That's a really, really cool badge, though. The silver border is pretty neat and the diamonds really stand out with just the border around them.
