Terrific. Glad you still have two options and that you like both.

I know exactly what you mean. An acquaintance totally bashed one of my son's 3rd grade teachers (her son had had her the year before), so I was very apprehensive about his new teacher. My son LOVED her and so did I and she loved him, but the whole year I was sort of waiting for the other shoe to drop (never did--it was a good year). It ticked me off that the other mom put her own opinion into my head, and I was mad at myself for listening to her!
Don't worry about what your neighbor said. Enjoy Emerald and Princess and do what you think is best for you.

ahhh!!! what do i do?? both chapters are having events tomorrow..the same sporting event!!!! one of the houses is doing a house tour/lunch before it, so i have to meet there at 2 , and the other one is having us meet there at 3. would it be wrong to attend lunch/the house tour and then attend the sporting event with the other? what reasons would i cite for leaving early/being late? i would choose one or the other but thats rather hard when you get along with both so well...

I would go to the first event, and then just state that you have a prior engagement - no need to go into great detail.

Be straight forward and honest. I would hate for you to "come up with a reason" only to have the sisters from the house tour see you at the game with the other group.

That's what I was thinking. It's highly likely that someone else could be in the same situation, right? I'm not sure how many people are going through recruitment, but I think it's definitely plausabile.

Seriously, I'm sure there's a way that you can say that you'd like to come to the lunch, but already had plans for the game or vice versa. You don't have to say, "I'm watching the game with ABC," but you surely don't want to be busted for being with them, either.
FWIW, I think I'd say, "I'd love to come to the house tour, but I've already promised to meet some others for the game - is that okay with you?" If it's not, then you have a BIG decision to make!

they asked us if they were coming but the other girl who was with us when they asked if we were coming said she would have to leave early (though i don't think its to go to the game with Princess) and they seemed pretty understanding--i think, especially since its the weekend and that it is informal, they understand that we might not be able to attend everything, and they seem pretty okay with it. I don't want to choose just to go to one and not the other because i really like them both at this point. I don't actually think Princess would be okay with us missing an event. they seem a little judgemental of that..i pretty much said that exact thing about loving to go to the house tour (which i am am excited about) and promising to go to the game with others--even though i just found out about it tonight.
anyways, have a good saturday and i'll let you know how everything went when it is all said and done

I don't know if this is an NPC rule or a campus rule or if any NPC rules don't apply for informal recruitment, but at my campus we can't buy PNMs anything; if we go out to lunch, the PNM has to pay for herself.

I it's a sporting event for one of your school's teams then most likely there is no entrance fee. (At my school your student ID allows for you and a guest to enter for free). I find it hard to believe they would invite someone to something and then have it be a significant financial burden. They would (or should) have mentioned in the email or letter or whatever notice they sent you. Whatever the case, be sure to have fun and let us know how the events go!
