Update on Monica: She's basically now in a M*A*S*H unit. They tend to the people in Gulfport for the first 2 hours, then go in jeeps to other places where people need treatment. She's working something like 18 hour days! Bad news: her cell phone won't work, nor will the ones she was given to take down there.
As for me, I'm waiting for my doctor to call. PM me if you want to know details.

We should all keep adpiucf and all of our sisters that could be in the path of Hurricane Rita in our prayers.

Some of you know what was going on, but for the rest: I found a lump last week. After my gynie confirmed it, I had a mammogram & ultrasound today - with WONDERFUL results!!! Praise the Lord! He is so Good!! It turns out that, since I'm large breasted, the lymph glands are very close to the breast, and it was a lymph gland that was swollen.
Woo Hoo!!

Thank you all for the well wishes! I truly believe that my "ordeal" is nothing compared to what so many people are dealing with lately, but to me, it was everything. Thank you!!!
Now, an update on Monica (read: she was able to talk to her mother for over 5 minutes!): The doctor who was stationed with them grossed out & left (without telling the rest of them!) after a day and a half! That left Monica & the two nurses - who were only there for one week.
So, Monica IS the only medically licensed person there! It's a very poor town, and most of the people don't even own shoes, let alone wear them. A few people have stepped up as aides, so she can take care of the worst cases. She's seriously stressed out, and can't wait until Wednesday - her last day. Her father lives in Alabama, so she'll spend a couple days there, before returning to her home - where she has to go back to work on Saturday! Yikes!! So, we're trying to figure out how best to help her with the obvious "combat fatigue". I've volunteered a couple pizza night coupons, and a better restaurant for she & her husband to go out to, once she's up to it. Her husband, well, I've not said a lot about him, but as I drove by their house today (it's on the way to mine), I couldn't help but notice that he's enlarged their driveway, and put a really beautiful estate-type wall up! He's gone up several notches in my opinion!
Randomly, she said NOT to donate any clothing - it's to the point that they're either tearing it up for rags or just putting them in the dumpster! What they need (still) is bottled water, diapers, feminine products, shoes, people to help build, and money to rebuild.
As for prayer, Monica is exhausted. A National Guardsman guards the place where she's sleeping (on a cot). She's bone tired, and misses her family. If you could remember her, as well as the many thousand other volunteers who are in the Gulf. My word, between Katrina & Rita, we have some awesome people in this country, and I am so, so proud of my cousin!

Monica is HOME!!!!
My cousin was relieved a day early, and was able to catch a plane home yesterday! She is still exhausted, and promises to catch up, once she gets some sleep, but right now, that's exactly what she needs!! Her kids are thrilled, her husband is thrilled - we'll ALL very thrilled and proud of her!
Oh, and she burst into tears when she saw the wall!! She was expecting total chaos when she got home, but was pleasantly surprised. Three newspapers have contacted her for her story, too.
I'm just so happy that she's well and healthy - and that she doesn't have to go back to work until Monday!!
Sisters, thank you, thank you for your prayers! Granted, Monica was only there for two & a half weeks, and the REAL victims are still picking up the pieces, but she couldn't have done this without the Lord with her, every minute of the day. I am so proud of each of you who said even a small prayer, or stood in the hedge for her. It means the world to me - thank you, from the bottom of my heart!!

And hats off to her, who gave of herself and her time. Glad God answered our prayers, and she's back safely!

My grandmother died today.
I was extremely close to her, so my heart is breaking right now.
I type this during one of my lucid moments.
