My daughter is throwing around a number that approximately 300 PNMs who attended 3 party received no bids. She thinks they may have invited more PNMs to the final party because of combining the 14 and 8 parties. Anyone have confirmation??

At this point is impossible to know a final number as chapters will continue to snap bid today and over the next several days to replace PC members who declined bids

Not much joy in this
My daughter got a bid. Twelve girls on her floor rushed, four got bids. She got her second choice. Her roommate also attended that preference party. My daughter got the bid from the sorority that her roommate desperately wanted. Her roommate (both from the same hometown, friends before being roomies) got nothing. My older daughter got nothing two years ago. There is no joy in it for my daughter. I talked with her and she was crying hysterically. Maybe joy will come later. Doesn't even want to go to the sorority house tonight.

I was in the same situation as your daughter. I walked out of the dorm with my sisters to see my best friend crying in the tv room. I felt guilty, but there is a reason the sorority picked your daughter and not her friend. She can't let guilt or loyalty keep her from this opportunity. She may even end up helping her friend to get a bid in the future.

If I recall correctly snap bids can only be issued for 24 hours? Then it becomes COR/COB and that may be delayed until after the DPhiE colonization. That's how it usually works on campuses when there is a colonization right after formal recruitment. Can anyone local provide information here?

And that is a good point, midwesterner1's daughter probably personally knew several sorority members when she went through a second time. If your daughter didn't succeed this time and she doesn't with DPhiE (or isn't interested in going that way), she should work at building relationships with sorority women (through on campus activities, in class, study groups, etc., not via stalking ). It makes all the difference when you're talking about pre-existing friendships and the hordes of rushees.

DuBais Sis is exactly right -- my daughter is joining a sorority which her BFF at IU pledged last year. She has met a number of other girls in the house through her BFF over the past few months. She does not have good friends at any other house.

I feel guilty for posting good news, but here it is... My daughter got a bid to Theta Phi Alpha and she's very excited! I only got to talk to her briefly so I didn't find out what the mood was in her dorm, but I assume it's ugly.

Don't feel guilty. It is not your fault the system at IU is broken. Congratulations to your daughter, and I hope she has a BLAST tonight. Post pics if you get 'em.

Oh my gosh! Don't feel bad, It's great to hear some good news!!! A lot of the posting is negative so it is great to hear some good news!!! Tell her congrats from all of us. I am sure she will love it, I spoke with a mom from that sorority and she is super sweet, so I can only imagine that her daughter is the same. I just know your daughter will love it!!
So happy for you 2!

Do they only offer snap bids to PNMs that attended their pref party?

You do not have to have attended a group's preference party to be offered a snap bid.
However, you HAVE to have maximized your options.
For example, women who attend a full schedule of pref parties, but only list ONE chapter on their final card/MRABA, then do not receive a bid, are NOT eligible for snap bids.

Are you sure? I know you have to maximize your options for QA. I don't think you have to for snaps. One of my students was offered a snap two years ago and she dropped out after an earlier round.
