I have read this thread and re-read it and looked once more at the original post and the first page. I still don't know what it is that you want to know? What has not already been answered? Why is this thread continued? Other questions were posted during the course of this thread that moved me to answer, so I'll try.

Anyway, how do black folks know which BGLO to join from the beginning if it's not based on family/friends pressure or stereotypes? Supposedly you can't rush every BGLO or people will get upset and that info isn't on a website.

-Rudey

No, you can't rush every BGLO but you can RESEARCH every BGLO. I know this because I did this. I did this way before the age of the internet and expressing interest over the internet. I am one of those "black folk" who didn't know which BGLO to join cause I didn't have no family/friends/nor peer pressure to help me decide. I am the first in my family to go to college and didn't have a clue as to what a sorority is BGLO or non-BGLO. It was a foreign word to me. I looked at the non-BGLO sororities that my white friends belonged to (Delta Gamma, Tri-Delt). I liked their philanthropies. I TALKED to them. I heard that there were Black sororities. I did my research. This consisted of a few things like visiting the LIBRARY (already mentioned in previous posts). I contacted national headquarters and asked if they would be so kind to send me any info they had. They graciously replied. This helped me a lot. Even if I hadn't been confident enough to actually venture out and attend their events and community service projects and eventually became a member I STILL would have what you would call a very EDUCATED understanding about each of the FABULOUS four and the service we do. And I got it on my own!! I wasn't spoon-fed info over the internet!

Some folks say that the chapter matters and then there are others on here talking about how you know what you want to do before you even know the chapter. And instead of trying to provide an answer if someone does know it, they say research it. Big Catch 22.

-Rudey

And no, it's not a big catch-22. Some people actually do know what they want for whatever reason. Someone mentioned the man who said he would die before he let his daughter pledge.... well that is a good example of a non-informed and ignorant choice. I could say the same thing about my daughter -- "she better be my Sorhor one day, or else, LOL". I can say this because I have raised her around Sigma Gamma Rho so she knows Sigma Gamma Rho. And yes, like you said the chapter does matter. It's still not A CATCH 22. If my daughter came home from college and said that she wasn't feeling the SGRho chapter and she was looking at another sorority, I would respect that but I would also inform her that one chapter does not represent the whole sorority.

I am posting this because this thread is highly irritating to me. I am older than most people on Greek chat which is why I don't do a lot of posting even though I have been on here for about 5 years now. My opinion is that most of you who have these questions about us are "stuck" somewhere mentally. Stop creating arguments with yourselves. This forum is supposed to be informative and fun or at least it was at one time.

Is the difference that AKA_Monet posted the link instead of Taualumna having to look the link up for herself?
Truely, this a quandry...

Interestingly, the AKA Ave locked up the topic "Ask An Interest Questions..." I guess we were getting too "hazy" up in there...

And HAYLE, I ain't trying to have MY name posted in the EXPELLED member page...

"PEARL PROTECTION"... Never leave home without it...

Here is another university chapter difference observed... Because at Spelman and HAYLE anybody in the Atlanta University Center--THOSE books in the library... They MIGHT have had cards for them in the card catalog--But, good luck finding those books... 'Cuz I can TAYLE you, once you pulled ANY of THOSE books off the shelf, folks were ALL up in yo' bizness...

Y'all that attended dees majority institutions were lucky--y'all got interlibrary loan and chit... I doubt ANYBODY in the AUC wanted us to know that in ANYBODY'S library...

All we had in the AUC was Club Woody's (Woodruff Library)...

OYE VELL, The HBCU Experience... Gotta love it...

What do you want to hear that would make YOU happy?

After 25 pages of the same tiresome questions and the same ol' answers, some of you just won't let it go. No one is saying you can't find out anything, all that has been emphasized is:

1. With all of the current literature available by book and internet, it is very easy to find your answers.

2. Go out and talk to people who are in the organization you are interested in.

I think that most of you who still don't get it are keeping this up because you do not want to move out of your comfort zone. It is easy to sit at home, in your pj's sipping whatever and post never-ending circle (jerk) questions. I don't think you (Rudey) will ever be satisfied because I am getting the feeling that you really don't know what you want.

So, lets turn the tables: Rudey, tell me all of the pertinent info about AEPhi. I have to ask you this because I do not know any AEPhi's. Of the Jewish people that I do know, I know they are not in that frat, so tell me all your experiences and the importance of the Judaic symbols and rituals that your frat performs. How is a young Jewish boy sure that he wants to join a Jewish frat if he is not in an area where there is one. Could you and only you answer all of this for me Rudey please. Afterall, I would base all of my views on Jewish-based greek life on YOUR answers.

he's a simple twit. his mental inadequacies lead him to think that he breaks new ground with his moronic posts.

And have you noticed how none of Rudey's I Felta Thigh posts have been deleted, although they are offensive to members of Iota Phi Theta?

BTW, I also want to emphasize that Black Greek 101 was not authorized by any of the NPHC orgs. So nothing in it is official. Even The Divine Nine is not authorized, and there is incorrect info in it. For accurate readings, folx should consult the authorized books of each org. That will clear up a lot of misinformation.

Rudey, do you understand this? If what you read was not authorized by the Grand Chapter of Iota Phi Theta, then it is NOT to be considered gospel. Heck, I could write a book on your fraternity and put in all kinds of stuff out of context. But that wouldn't make it correct--would it?
