I have both the UK and US versions of OotP and as far as I can remember...the slang (thank you that word escaped me earlier) is pretty much the same.
I will be reading the entire series again soon in anticipation for July 16 and I will be more self-aware of the slang differences.
I will be ordering the UK version tonight also.

As I understand it the first two books are the ones with the language "differences"... because they were released in the US before Rowling "broke big". The later books she was able to exercise more control over publishing... and there was more of demand from the US market for the "original" UK printed books...
I'd be interested to know if there was how much if any difference in the OoP in the US & UK published editions...

Especially the first, which was "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone" in the UK and "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" in the US. But my impression was always that the main differences were changes in words that carry one meaning in the UK and a different meaning in the US -- to cite the example given above, I think lots of Americans would be very confused at the thought that Ms. Weasley made Harry and Ron "jumpers" for Christmas. Going into a whole different kind of fiction there.

Those of you in the States that are buying the UK version, where are you buying from? And how is shipping?
I want to get that version I think based on the cover alone. (Even though it's the same book.)

Stills from the movie
More Stills - better quality
If I recall correctly, the trailer should be hitting sometime soon.

Maybe it's tonight because ABC is airing Chamber of Secrets. The commercial said that they were airing some deleted scenes, interviews and I think a preview of GOF.

I know I read in an article that they will be showing a preview for "The Chronicles of Narnia" during the ABC airing of HP2. Are they showing both?

I saw the trailer for GoF, it's good but really just a big teaser. I wanted to see more. The graphics were neat though, they showed one of the dragons and a mermaid (or merman?).

mugglenet is FULL of stuff today. I have to wait until I get on my home computer to check it out.
Anyone else notice all of the added scenes in CoS last night? I knew they were going include some... but there were a LOT. I wish I could have caught the whole thing to see what was different... and if I can get an extended copy of it.

Yea
November is just too far away....I have to say Stanislav Ianevski (Krum) is a cutie.
I am looking forward to this film...I want to see what the leave out, because lets face it....2 1/2 (the max they'd make it) is just not enough time.

Seriously - I always walk away from the movie thinking that it seemed like only an hour and 15 minutes, then notice how long it REALLY is.
What are they going to do when it's time for the 5th movie?!?!?!
Last night I was "kinda" watching the movie, and didn't really pay attention to the extended scenes - COS hasn't been my favorite movie, or book, so I rarely watch it or pay attention with what's included (but I did love the ending with Gilderoy Lockhart's "new" book! )

Spoiler alert for movie 4. Of course it was all over Mugglenet.
Apparently the QWC is hacked down to almost nothing. And the Dursleys and Mrs. Weasley aren't in it either.
So without the Dursleys, I'm curious where it begins. But I think that the Old Man at the Cup (y'know, the old man wearing the dress who liked a breeze you know where) is still in it. I mean he has to be, that was an awesome line!
On a random, somewhat related tangent: there is a local fairytale park that is putting on a Harry Potter night on his "birthday." Any ideas for events, scenery, activities, etc are greatly appreciated. I'm going to volunteering with the set up and planning and working the night. So anything to help bring Hogwarts and the wizarding world to Sacramento is greatly appreciated. It's for the kids of course. You can PM me if you would like.
