Your husband probably killed Charlotte. Dude waited until you were sound asleep, got up, put some bug and spider spray on a Qtip, then rubbed it on Charlotte’s nose. She went to spider heaven the next day. The spray bottle said “For Big Hairy Ass Spiders. Works Fast!” on the label. Lmao!!!!

What the hell kind of care does a damn scorpion need, CG? You can’t love on a scorpion without getting effed up. For real.

Depends on the species. Like, for example, I had a client who came in with a sick scorpion. All he needed was a dry tank. It was a Flat Rock scorpion, and too much humidity is really bad for these scorpions. If its enclosure gets too humid for a long time, and the humidity is like 70%-80% for several days, weeks, or even longer, real health issues can show up — like mycosis, and mites, which only causes stress for the scorpion. Parasites do infect scorpions, too, just like any other pet.

Probably no search engine spiders / bots, though, as I don't think Facebook has a general web search engine. Those would also be good bots to have if they were competing in the search engine market, though.

I think the recent slowdown is sorted out for the most part now. The issue appears to have been a mix of bots & some very long threads that were not yet temporarily archived.

Good bots definitely can slow things down. Too many of them loading too many pages too quickly or even repeatedly loading pages which slow other things down (such as loading many individual pages of the very long threads which are temporarily archived now).

Even more people using the site can cause similar issues. If that was the case, though, it would be a good thing as long as I could scale the hosting setup fast enough to keep up with demand.

Googlebot, one of the good bots in my opinion, crawled over 12,000 pages on GC yesterday. That's a good thing beause it means more pages indexed in Google search which should eventually result in more people visiting the site.

Oh, I see how that might be taken as a good thing. What I described is quite inefficient, though. For example, the largest discussion thread on GC has 65,000 posts. Loading all 65,000 posts from the database, sorting them, and doing other stuff, before returning an individual page that only has 15 posts on it is what makes it inefficient. Would be more efficient to just load the 15 posts from the database that are needed.

I don't know how the software we will eventually switch to handles that, but my guess is that the content to load from the database will probably be more limited to what is needed for each page rather than loading the entire 65,000 posts. I've read that very long discussion threads do not impact that software the same way how it significantly slows down the software that we are currently using.
