MP, oh, Dear Lord, that's my Blue Blood Mother's pattern! Mine is Wallace Grand Baroque, so she's skipping a generation and giving hers to her namesake who happens to be getting married in June!

My Mama is a Buttercup, like my Grandmother before, and the Great Grandmother before her. My Aunt, my Mother's elder Sister decided I would be FTF, like her, since she had no daughters, and Mama had no say in it, nor did I since I had just been born. Almost sounds like GOT, doesn't it?

Even some of us Yankee gals get the same silver patterns as our Mamas and Grandmothers...International Prelude in my case.

I might be a Yankee but I too will one day be a Wallace Grand Baroque girl. My mother (she has it currently) was actually shocked when she found out I wanted my grandmother's silver. I still don't understand why she ever thought I wouldn't want it. What was she going to do, sell it

Well, it is worth a lot of money! When I saw the price for my silver goblets on Replacements, Inc, I almost sold them! $350 x 5.....hmmm...
And my sister had Grand Baroque but then got our grandmother's silver (I already had mine). It's an odd, sort of long discontinued pattern - Manchester by Manchester....
Anyone with Chantilly??????

It's an insane amount of money! We sold the tea set not long ago and I was astounded at what it went for.

I started with Eloquence (Lunt), but I'm seriously thinking of switching out to Grande Baroque. There's so many extra items available in Grande Baroque!

Any other Burgundy belles here?
This is fun - I don't recall this topic coming up before on GC. Perhaps we should start a thread?

Years ago, and I think it was in an earlier incarnation of GreekChat, there was a china and silver thread in Chit Chat. Maybe it needs to be found, or a new one started?

Man, I put my mother on strict orders, no silver, but more importantly NO CHRISTMAS CHINA. I have Villeroy and Boch dishes, and I drink every day out of my crystal. I am not a believer in saving stuff for "special." But my Mom has Lenox china, including the Christmas. One of my sisters has Waechtersbach (hate it!) and one has Spode (love it, but there's no way I'm investing that much in dishes you use once, maybe twice a year).
All of you who do have your real silver and good china, pull that stuff out of the cabinet and USE IT. Thursday is reason enough to celebrate.
On an interesting note, at the travel agency I used to work at, the silverware in the office kitchen was actual silver. Leave it to an agency in Newport Beach to use real silver in the office kitchen :O

HottyToddy!
That's Channing Ward, not Jeff Scott who made the 75 yard run, but it's the same game. One of my friends is going to name her first born Jeff Scott, regardless of gender she says!
