Aww, some of these cakes are really well done even if the content is something not to our taste.
My brother's wedding had real tree camo vests and ties - it's nice that the Groom can have something relevant to his interests at the wedding now.

Agreed! The 8th one down with the squirrels (NOT the second to last one...) is ADORABLE! It's not something I would have ever considered, but I think it's super cute!

This one? Might be the Alpha Gam in me but yeah, I think the squirrels are cute, too.

I love them both! I so wanted my DH to have a Groom's Cake but he was adamant about not having one. Silly guy!

Txpacer, both your cakes look terrific! Your wedding cake is so perfect it doesn't even look real(I mean that as a compliment).

Thanks honey and FSUZeta! DH wouldn't have been happy without a groom's cake (we both grew up in an area where it is a common practice).
Some of the linked cakes are really cute. There is one that I don't find redneck at all! It says: "sometimes the only way to catch an uncatchable woman is to offer her a wedding ring," which is a quote from Big Fish (an excellent movie, IMHO).

I can't believe I missed this when it was originally posted.
When we were planning our wedding, it was in the back of my head to get a TARDIS cake. DH has been a Whovian since he was a little boy, and, while I'd seen some Classic Who while growing up, it was he who really got me into the show.
What stopped us?
(a) We had a relatively small wedding, so the one wedding cake was quite sufficient. (The practical reason.)
(b) Everyone would have assumed it was a groom's cake, and I would not have a groom's cake without a bride's cake. (Yeah, yeah, I know, the "bride's cake" is supposed to be the 4-tier cake coated in white fondant. But I'd have wanted a bride's cake shaped like the starship Enterprise. As Scotty put it, "NCC one seven oh one. No bloody A, B, C, or D." Although support for the warp nacelles might have been problematic...)
