We're the doormat of the MWC...
Seriously, when New Mexico, UNLV and Wyoming aren't afraid of you, it's time to find a new coach....

I wish the Pac 10 would become the Pac 12. Fresno State is an easy pick to join, but then who?
SDSU is usually the first school that comes to mind when we talk about it, but like you said Stan, they pretty much suck. So who then? UNLV? Their football program is and always has been laughable.

We've been the doormat of the MAC.
With Frank Solich as our new coach, it will be interesting to see if our football fortunes change as his recruiting classes begin to play.
I hope he has a chance to build the program -- and that a bigger school doesn't steal him before he gets a foundation in place.

At least Solich has proven to be a winner at some level, and he at least knows how to get the student body into games. Craft has no idea what he's doing, compounded with the fact that none of the students care that our football team sucks...

He was a winner on a big stage and still has a lot of support in Nebraska. In fact, a number of Ohio U. season tickets were sold up there and there are "Cornhuskers for Ohio" type of groups who feel he really got a bad deal in Lincoln.
I've posted this before, but it used to be said that any student who watched an entire football game in the stands would get a full scholarship -- and none was ever given.
The student body used to come for the band show at pre-game and halftime and then leave -- sometimes coming back for the band's post game show.
The band is great, and a huge tradition, but it's a pretty sad commentary on the football team.

Well, Ohio U's gotten a lot more exposure this year, and it certainly looks better with that small stadium than walking into a 70,000 stadium like Qualcomm and only seeing 20,000 people there...most of them not knowing how to be a real football audience (make noise during defense, not offense, react to when the team does poorly) and sitting there twidling their thumbs.
I work with an Alumnua from Ohio U, she said she never went to any of the games lol.

See? I rest my case.
BTW, the Bobcats play the Miami Redhawks (arch rival) tonight on ESPNU.
I suspect it's a regional and don't know where all it will "air."

Regarding pac 10 and expansion
The Pac 10 isn't looking to expand in football anytime soon.
This is a thread I started in a USC forum.
Pac 10? Why not Pac 12?
Notice that I had to bump my own thread.
Apparently the Pac 10 tried to steal Texas and Colorado a few years back. Didn't work .There have also been talks about UTAh and BYU coming over. God that would have been something huh? Liberal hippies of the pac 10 (except Stanford and USC) vs the Mormons.
I am almost embarrased to show this link because there are some stupid ass USC fans out there. But basically this board is filled with USC bandwagoners, USC alums, pessimstic USC fans who remember the 90s (me ) and a bunch of SEC fans who troll the board and talk shit making it a Pac 10 vs SEC war. (the SEC fans always get schooled and like this board, it always comes down to a North vs South thing (but we are the West)except how are you going to say that Alabama is better than California?)
Oh and some people from Texas come by pretty often to mention how they are #2

I remember that. As I recall, it was about the same time the Big 12 expanded, which probably didn't help the deal any.

i knew texas was going to win even though they played pretty crappy. texas a&m couldnt do anything with the ball except leaving it in the hands of their young quarterback. good game.

One not ugly game (at least not for me)
Nebraska 30
sCUm 3
Nebraska was a 15 point underdog and ruined CU's chance at the Big XII North...awesome.
Also, in continuing displays of class, the referees had to clear out an entire section of fans because they were throwing things on to the field and wouldn't stop. Just another step in the long line of CU misdeeds...from throwing snowballs with ice cubes in the middle thrown at players on the field (not to mention the snow covered billiard balls) to the bottles of urine that are thrown at Nebraska fans...you just can't find a more classy group of people...
