Just because DK and Valentino sell it at Nieman Marcus, doesn't mean people should actually buy it.

That DK stuff looks too old for me.
To be fair, there were some patterned black tights shown with a cute dress and some KILLER shoes in the most recent Anthropologie catalog -- that's the ONLY time I've liked the dark tights look for years. Normally, I am completely opposed to tights or hose (hose that match your skin color okay if wearing a suit, but that's it). Yuck.

Oh, well, if they come in orange, I'm all over that LOL! But I draw the line at socks. I don't like socks - they make my feet hot. I don't even like to wear socks in the winter. The little kids at school thought I was poor or something - "Dr. T! Don't ya got no SOCKS??"

I just want to say that I don't know how people go all winter without pantyhose, or tights, or something. I would die of frost exposure.

When in doubt, err on the conservative. You've also been around long enough to know that fad clothing isn't worth the investment. Keep a wardrobe of classic staples and add a fun piece or two so you can experiment with the wacky fashion suggestions thrown off the runway.
And note: if you feel funny coming out of the dressing room to peek at yourself in the mirror, then chances are the look doesn't work for you!
|
I get that to an extent, but it's not the only thing that we're told is "in" I can't think of a good example at the moment.
Clearly leggings on me would not be cute, but I don't think they're the end all of fasion disasters
But reading the fasion magazines don't help, half the stuff in there is crap too. AND it tends to cost 300 dollars a sleeve... Almost NOTHING on a runway model looks good in real life without drastic changes. I've seen weirder outfits on models than on the homeless. Sigh, where's the fashion for the rest of us?

Of course people don't need to buy it. There is a clothing department in Wal-mart where you can get all the polyester you like.

And a black micro-mini, and an off the shoulders turquoise dance sweater.
Don't forget the neon scrunchi or banana clip for your hair, either.

I don't like patterned tights, but they're also in style this fall. Bottom line is to wear what you like and what looks flattering on you.

Tights, etc seem very necessary waiting for the subway or bus on cold winter mornings!!! Layers = so important!

LOL I never thought that pantyhose did a darn thing to make me feel warmer -- but then I am VALKYRIE FROM THE NORTH and like the cold.
