Just to add to the little commentary going on about the baby -- if you'll ask Mr. AXO Alum (he's not a racist though) he will tell you that I was screaming at the security people last night. I thought that was horrible for them to do to her family -- they deserved to come up on stage -- especially Zion. And Ryan was really cool to ask them up - but Mr. Security said no.
I sure think her family deserved to be on stage more than the other AI contestants -- NOBODY needed to see Matt the camera-whore for another minute!

out of the pool = shark in the water (ie, me)
Don't worry - it wasn't racially motivated - just a saying that's all

Congrats, Fantasia,
Despite all the sanctiminous, bullisht hatoration, she persevered, brought superior "musical wood" every week and just did the thang. Everytime she sang she just commanded my attention; nobody else did that. Latoya, Diana, George were nice, but none was in this girl's musical class. Diana was classy last night and I think has a future in the biz. (George, who straight BLEW UP "Me and Mrs. Jones" should have been in the finals).
Last night was my first hearing of Kelly Clarkson. Her CD will be in my mix real soon. Reuben, if you gon be around....Jenny Craig, bro. (CT4, when dude came on stage your cake reference came to mind--you ain't right).
lastly...gotta give America props. Despite some of the stuff on other pages, the nation recognized talent and rewarded it.

Cosign!!!
Yeah, I'm happy that Fantasia has prevailed and that America did recognize true talent...However, I still feel the that Final Four should have consisted of Fantasia, Jennifer Hudson, LaToya London, and my boy George...George did BLOW UP like WHOA "Me and Mrs. Jones"! I would have been happy to see La Toya or Jennifer Hudson win instead of Fantasia (as long as someone w/ true talent won).
I liked Kelly Clarkson's performance too. I've always thought she can sing. Also, Tamyra's and Rueben's performance was great too.
Diana sings ok, but not well enough to be the American Idol...However, I do see her being around as well...

LOL.. not the paddles.. cut me a little slack bruh
CONGRATULATIONS FANTASIA BARRINO- my pick from the beginning
The coliseum was CRAZY and LOUD.. It was a good experience..other than this hysterical little girl who was crying and screamin for Clay
I recorded the show so I had the opportunity to watch the show at home (It was so loud in the coliseum that I couldn't get a good handle on the performances) and the singing was really good.. (maybe not Tamyra singing the National Anthem)
Latoya sang the heck out of "If you don't know mw by Now" what could have been But I did think Diana sang that "I Believe "song exceptioanlly well.
I'm glad this is over so I can move on with my life..lol

65 million people did not vote, 65 million votes were cast.
Quite frankly, people care more about AI than they care about the Presidential elections.

Besides, who says we/y'all *can't* vote Bush out of office? We all have to wait until November for the elections, but I'm voting for Kerry.
I can't stand Bush. I voted for Gore in 2000. Ack.
[I'm sure George W. would have voted for Diana, had he been into AI. Dunno why, I just have a feeling.]
And I am glad Fantasia won. Couldn't stand her in the beginning, but I think she's grown some in her overall attitude, and she was always willing to take risks in her song choices. The minute I heard "Summertime" I knew that she really could sing. (I still woulda loved to see Fantasia, Jennifer, and LaToya in the top three, though...)

why do I keep hearing this all over the net? why do people assume that one is incapable of enjoying (ok obsessing) over an entertainment show once a week and still be able to read the NY Times, watch CNN and exercise the right to vote on primary and election day????
Lets stay on focus..this thread is about congratulating Fantasia!!

Word Records Signs Two Idols

WORD RECORDS SIGNS TWO IDOLS:
AN AMERICAN IDOL AND A GOSPEL LEGEND
GEORGE HUFF & KAREN CLARK-SHEARD
Word Entertainment's urban music division is gearing up for an exciting 2005
release schedule. The label has just signed two American Idols to recording contracts. The raspy-voiced New Orleans chef, George Huff, who won America's heart on Fox television's "American Idol" competition this past spring has inked a deal to record his first solo CD. In another coup, Word has won the bidding war to sign the legendary Karen-Clark-Sheard of the Clark Sisters to a recording agreement as well. The singer had been in negotiations with several major labels; but returned to the label that made her group, the Clark Sisters, a household name in Urban America in the 1980s.
"Karen Clark-Sheard is exactly the caliber of artist Word is ecstatic about partnering with as a catalyst for Word's new era of gospel legacy," says Desmond Pringle, Word's Director of Urban A&R. "George Huff is an example of the new and unique talent we're going to present to America."
During the 'American Idol" competition, Huff never hid his faith. He often cited gospel as his favorite music genre and said that people would be surprised to know that he's an evangelist. The former University of Oklahoma student and short order cook, is now on a nationwide "American Idol" concert tour through the end of September.
One of gospel's most celebrated voices, Karen Clark-Sheard (whose vocal acrobatics have influenced pop stars such as Mariah Carey and Faith Evans), has given the world recent hit smashes such as "Nothing Without You", "Balm in Gilead" and "We Acknowledge You" as a solo artist since 1997. With the Clark Sisters, she recorded classics such as "You Brought the Sunshine", "Pray for the USA" and "My Redeemer Liveth."
"In the past, Word Records represented the greatest names in Gospel music and the signing of George Huff and Karen Clark Sheard sends the message that we want that valued position back again," says Barry Landis, President of Word Records. "I want my legacy at Word to be identified as a time where Word Records reclaimed its status as the industry leader in Gospel."
Word was founded in 1952 and is the oldest existing gospel recording label. Over its six decades, Word has spawned gospel radio classics by artists such as America's first black superstar Ethel Waters, First Lady of Gospel Shirley Caesar and America's premiere quartet, the Mighty Clouds of Joy.

GOOD FOR HIM!!!!!!!!!!!
Did you all hear Fantasia sing her heart out at this game?
Click to hear Fantasia sing the National Anthem. She tore it up. Even if she wasn't my pick, she can sing. You can also hear others sing various songs.
