My love and prayers to all on the passing of their loved ones. My own grandfather passed away last week, and through the sadness I'm comforted knowing he and my grandmother have been reunited in heaven.

I'll be praying for your diamond's family - I can relate with the grandparents being married for a long time - I want to say they've been married at least 60 years, maybe more, so I know it'll be a tough adjustment for my grandmother to make, especially as she has been primary caregiver since my grandpa's first stroke 6 years ago.
adpiucf, I'm also thinking about your family tonight - glad that your grandparents are reunited in heaven!
Honey, I'm not entirely sure how my dad's doing - he called and left a message here for me to call my aunt's house, where they'll all be, after the funeral, so I'll know more later tonight. For my mom and I (my grandparents were wonderful about asking about my mother even after the divorce, and my mom made sure she kept in contact with them), it's tough, but we're both relieved that he's no longer suffering or in pain, and has been "released" from his state of being since the first stroke 6 years ago.

PRAISE REPORT!!!!!!!
My brother was diagnosed with skin cancer, which would have made his second bout. Each of my immediate family and most of my extended family has had skin cancer (of one form or another - part of being fair skinned), and having a second round is simply NOT GOOD.
BUT, Praise the Lord, he's alright! It was a type that none of us have had yet, and we weren't sure what it meant. He's got to wear a special medication & bandage for six weeks, but it hadn't metastisized.
This, Ladies, is why I'm so against tanning!

I could really use some good vibes and prayers! After 3 months of being graduated, and 7 months of unsuccessful job searches, I think a company is getting close to actually making an offer. It's an awesome position that has a lot of growth potential.
I got a call from my recruiter today, it sounded like things are going along very well. (she said she spoke with everyone I interviewed with yesterday and got a lot of positive feedback, and she also said that they are giving the green light to proceed further). They haven't made an offer yet, but she said it is likely that will happen.
Please send some good thoughts and prayers!

Help!!
We have Jewel Degree tonight, and I will be the only one who has given it before (there are three others helping! )
I woke up with, um, "severe intenstinal distress". PLEASE pray that I can shake this, get the punch things & the rest of what I have to do, and still make it tonight, even if I have to wear an azure blue muu-muu instead of a catsuit!!
Thank you SO much - Jewel Degree means a LOT to me!!

Sisters, my dog died and I'm very sad. I know this story is going to sound crazy but it's true. He got into a fight with a mountain lion. My dad heard it outside and flippedon the light really quick and when he did the cat ran off. Well, I guess Shultz lunged after him and tripped because basically he rolled down the stairs and broke his neck. It all happened in less than a minute. It took three of us to pick him up (German Shephard). I know it's silly but I never realized how much of your family animals can become. Anyway, I guess that doesn't really need prayer but if you can think of me, I am getting ready to move 2000 miles away from my family and I'm getting really nervous about it. I know it's where I'm supossed to be, but it's still a huge cause of anxiety for me. Just pray that everything works out the way it should.

Forever Diamond, consider yourself prayed for! We'll just keep holding you up in prayer until you're on your financial feet.
ADPiZXalum, I would be besides myself if that happened to me! Our pets are family, no matter what anyone else ever says. And for your Schultz to die in such a horrific way! You'll be in my prayers, too, sister.
As for me, I was able to get through Jewel Degree. Four alumnae and 15 sisters!!

Yah hoo!!! Jewel Degree was my favorite part of ADPi, my best friend and I received it at the Texas State Convention in 2003 and then we got to help do it for the graduating seniors in May. I cried both times like a baby!!!

By far, it's my favorite part, too! I was in the role of the "leader" this time, and I was completely choked up at times - even though one part was read at the wrong time! I'm sure that every sorority woman feels the same about one or the other part of ritual, but I honestly feel that Jewel Degree is what separates us from the rest! God bless Jewel Davis Scarborough!!

Well it is almost 3 a.m. and I just came home from the hospital. My mom had to go in cause she had clasped and was having serious convulsions (sp?) They ran tests on her and nothing was wrong. The only concern is that her white blood cell count was elevated. So she had to stay overnight. They think that she is just under a lot of stress. She has the flu, so that is not making things any easier. Just pray for her. I have to do some errands for her tomorrow. So pray for me too. It is just a rough situation. I had to spend 7 hours in the emergency waiting room. NOT FUN.

My DH got bronchitis about 2 weeks ago and gave it to me - in the form of strep throat - only my doc told me it was just allergies. Yesterday the doc's office called to say the test for strep was positive. (I have an MD when it comes to self-diagnosing strep...) I left work early, looking forward to SLEEP! No such luck: When I got home, my husband told me we had a cat problem.
The two cats we adopted in Dec at 6 months old like to wrestle -and sometimes it turns nasty. OK, normal for cats. NOT normal is the 6" diameter HOLE in my upstairs bedroom wall!! NOT normal was the blood all over the walls! I found my poor little girl (cat) under the bed with her eyeball bulging out of her head. I held her as DH drove us to the vet. She didn't break any bones in her skull, but she was binded in her left eye. They were able to get the eye globe back in the socket and sutured the lids shut. They are hopeful that backward pressure will help bring down the swelling and stop the bleeding. She's a momma's girl and Oh! how I missed my little peanut last night!! I can call there in an hour and a half to get a status... I'm praying she won't need surgery and that she can come home soon.
I feel kinda funny posting this here, but I know that the only thing I can do for her (& myself) right now is prayer. I'm helpless to do anything else. What has helped me get thru the night is to realize that she, too, is one of God's creatures and that this must be part of His plan for her.

F&F, I can honestly say that I feel your pain. My late kitty was only 8 months old when someone shot him in the eye. I got him to the vet, and while they could save his eye, the pupil went into the center corner of the eye, to "fill up" the hole. He was severely cross-eyed the rest of his life. Later, he was shot again, but they couldn't operate because the bullet was embedded into his brain. He used every one of those nine lives, though, because he finally had to be put to sleep from bladder cancer.
I do pray that your little girl has an easier time of it, though. God bless you for taking care of one of God's creatures!

Thank you, Honey. I don't understand how people can shoot at animals for fun!!
I just got off the phone with my mom, after I called the vet. He said she's doing ok, awake and has an appetite. He said something about possibly having sight in that eye! They will have to wait until the sutures come out (2 weeks) before they'll know much more. It could also be that it will dry up and need to be removed. Whatever her sight situation, she will LIVE!!! As my mom said, animals have that survival instinct and, thankfully, don't feel sorry for themselves (which sometimes hinders the healing process). I can't wait to have little Natalie back home!!

This may sound gross, but it's only fair to prepare you: My Sharley's eyelid was sutured shut, but open on each side. I had to put antibiotic cream into the slit, and carefully sqeeze out a line across his eye three times a day for two weeks. I was 15 at the time, and I still can't believe I was able to do it.
Is she neutered? We weren't able to have Sharley neutered, since he was too old by that time, so he ended up getting into a lot of fights - blindsided on the one side. If you can get Natalie spayed, she'll have a lot less troubles. God bless you!!

The Vet said he was keeping her til Monday because he didn't want me to have to put antibiotics up under the lid. Perhaps there is a distinction between putting it in the slit and putting it under the lid? I'm not sure I can do that... I do not handle blood & gore well AT ALL - and we've had a lot of it the last 6 months: DH's broken neck & surgery; other kitten bit his hand SEVERELY so another ER visit; now this.
She was spayed - but she is an INDOOR CAT! This happened INDOORS!! The irony is that I've had only indoor/outdoor cats my whole life & this is the worst thing that's ever happened to any cat outdoors.
There are times when I am bored and exciting sounds good. Right about now, boring would be GOOD!
