Alpha Phi does not have an active chapter at the 'Bama, but according to wikipedia, Alpha Phi HAD a chapter at 'Bama from 1932-1968.

I have a good idea of which one that might be. It's true that NPC organizations want to have thriving chapters at big Greek schools, but if the school and your organization do not fit, or you lack the resources, you won't want to start a chapter there.
I liken Bama to Terrell Owens. Any NFL team would love to have a player as talented as T.O. However, you have to have the funds to pay to keep a player like him, and you have to have to be able to "deal" with him, plus you just have to fit with him. The Cowboys and T.O. are a good fit.

As of yesterday, it was listed in the active chapters.
ETA: it still is as of this post http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Alpha_Phi_chapters

That list is quite inaccurate, missing many chapters as well.

Not that it is set in stone as of now, but chapters at Bama had to vote tonight on a suggestion to accept the colonization of Alpha Phi in 2008 and DG in 2010. I do not know what other houses voted but our house voted to accept it. All of the houses will have one vote on the matter and I do not see why any house would reject the expansion of the grrek system at UA.

The decision to expand has already been made. Now it is simply a matter of which of the 3 GLOs that presented will be invited and which year. Chapters first vote amongst themselves. I believe the Panhellenic meeting is this coming Monday where the delegates will then cast their Chapters' vote. We should know the official results shortly thereafter.

Is it really necessary to post such things when they're not "set in stone" yet?

Looks like it will be Alpha Phi and Delta Gamma. Final vote is Monday.

Ok I'm pretty sure that the above was not meant to be released to the public, since the final vote hasn't take place yet. Not a good idea to post that.

Well why bother to vote at all? Why ask nationals to present in good faith if it is already a done deal? Seems to me that Bama Alumna must have made said decision all by herself. Wow, what a powerful diva she is!

Would it be possible to lock this darned thread until official word comes from Alabama Panhellenic?

All three presentations have already been made, though. I think the memo BamaAlum posted is just saying that the extension committee has looked at the scores from those presentations and is making a recommendation to Panhellenic. Still, it doesn't sound like public information!

If this is true, the whole thing has been handled in a very unprofessional manner and will appear to me to be a "done deal." The nationals presenting who put time and effort into this should be informed of any outcome before some loose cannon shoots off her mouth on a chat board. Frankly, I am very disappointed in the process.
