I think that actually this thread was meant to address the mean and spiteful behavior that arose out of the clique experience here on GC.

I doubt that anyone cares about any benevolent clique. In fact, we wouldn't even notice it, the clique wouldn't stand out.

As far as why don't people respond to hurtful posts by PM, why would they want to? Why would they want to have to mix it up with someone for being uncivil?

We are talking about a posting pattern of several people.

Is Ginger or winneythepooh or whoever, supposed to fire off 5 or 6 pm's asking the people to play nice? Play nice both in the original thread and in reference to snide comments that spill over into other threads by the same group of people?

The same group of people that other people have been insulted by?

I think a lot of readers are missing the point utterly.

When most of these individuals post by themselves its not a big deal, when several individuals from a group post mean comments in clusters as well as spilling it over into other threads its majorly noticeable.

What is so difficult to understand about this?

What is so hard about not making direct personal attacks just becasue you disagree with someone?

Why is it so difficult to refrain from posting mean comments in clusters with your pals?

I mean, if you are going to be a group can't just one of you tell the person off lol?

Does it take 3 or 4?

Now I definitely get a bad reputation on a female dominated site by posting things like the barbie thread, or saying cleary and unequivocally that I like hot slender women for romantic attachments.

What I don't do, is get five of my friends together to bash make fun of or insult people on threads.

Nor do I post allusions to people's personal information (true or not true) or life experiences outside of GC because I don't like them.

Nor do I make up fake user names to mock people.

Are all us readers a little clearer now on what dimensions of a clique we are talking about now?

If so many people were hurt and offended by what others said, criticizing them and their lifestyles, why didn't it go to PM? I have had no problem, when things bother me, either going to the source or reporting to a mod. It's certainly better--and more mature and assertive--than whining about it on a board in a passive-agressive manner. If I reported and still got no results, THEN I would air it. But I doubt that's really the case here.

(i am not saying you personally did this, s&s...just in my own defense of that statement....the reasoning behind starting the harem/clique/whatever, then, is void.) plus, i did not start this by saying that ppl were being mean to me.....it's just that i saw it happening to ppl on here in general. ppl i didn't even know/talk to......but SOMEone has to step up. ya know? when ppl who have been around much longer than me leave b/c they don't want to deal with being disrespected on a message board, or when new ppl leave b/c they're targeted....c'mon. lol...i just can't believe that me and two of my friends are the "cause" for this.
